Like the others have said I wouldn't right it off, angling pressure in other areas bit of sunlight in the right area, I would have a creep along your far margin if that's where the sunlight hits also try exploring the edges of the shallows where it starts to meet the deeper water if you have access to that piece of water. Oh and tight lines fella

Roll on tomorrow then ! . Hopefully you'll get some quality sleep ready to concentrate on the lake in the morning . As you say Neal at least you will gather more information to help you build up to getting amongst them .

Oh I see mate.... best of luck The thing that would put me off the shallows more than anything is the lack of bait that's been going in that area . But you won't know unless you try them, people are still catching in summer bay up Horseshoe have been all winter so don't let the lack of depth put you off.

As far as I know the Europe league spot in the champions league is an extra incentive for clubs to take it more seriously and means that you will still get the 4 places from the league. On another note our boys better buck their ideas up in the champions league because we are getting close to going back down to 3 teams.

Does the "shallows" get much sun ? I'm further up the country than you,but my forcast is for a cold night but a bright day. The fish may ? go the shallows for a bit of a warm. A zig wouldn't look too much out of place

  12. They're just not strong enough for my liking bud. That said, I'm a Nene Valley chap so have to deal with serious weed on most waters. Dude - My experience, as QA Manager for a manufacturer of heat treated carbon steel fasteners (the same process used to make hooks) for the automotive industry, tells me it's a fact that if the yield point is exceeded even once, you've weakened the hook significantly - spring rate is compromised so the hook cannot absorb shock as intended. Therefore when stresses on the hook reach a certain level the hook WILL bend rather than flex - it's just a question of whether those stress levels will be reached while the fish is being landed. I'm not saying you can't land fish on modified hooks (as you say, plenty have been landed), just that IMO it's not worth the risk - it's asking for trouble fella.

  13. Got the hooks, am happy so far, oddly the size 12 is pretty much exactly the same as the 10. Possibly slightly wider gape on the 10. I got 27lb on the scales before the size 8 bent, so I'm happier than the 15lb I got on the size 4 krank. Sorry mufty I couldn't see a straight eyed version
