    Rig masters needed

The rubbing is something that does happen, a fish tethered somewhere on some branches will be rubbing the hooklink/line as it tries to free itself. Thus the hooklink with snap. Leadcore and leaders are designed to withstand serious abrasion. What you are doing with that rig is creating a 55lb breaking strain hooklink! I just think its totally unnecessary considering you can use so many other materials for the same thing, which have a lower BS and are less obtrusive and probably wont cost you bites from warier fish. It's very crude. Just my opinion but its an unacceptable rig to be fishing with for various reasons. If I saw anyone using that rig on a water I fish I'd be reporting it to the bailiffs. Again, same effect can be achieved with subtler and safer hooklink materials. They are readily available from thousands of suppliers. Get a very stiff coated braid and strip a tiny section back to get the 'flimsy' section and retain stiffness throughout. Line aligners and shrink tubing can create the kick if you want to use a combi-rig with a very stiff fluoro tied to a supple braid.

    New syndicate

Hi all, I'm currently on a winter ticket at st Georges syndicate in shepperton. I'm enjoying my time on it but it's a 50 member syndicate and heard in the summer it can be rammed, and that is not what I'm looking for. So I'm debating wether to do the full season come April or look elsewhere I'm looking for syndicates around the surrounding area. Chertsy way/shepperton way and don't mind a small drive. Any names will be great and I will do my research Thanks in advance

    Bayswater Essex

Looking at the size of that place there is no worries if me going past the half way mark lol, although I have fished for years I'm only just getting back into it and pretty much learning from scratch so I'll just go about it my own way and take on board any pointers and see how I get on....nothing ventured nothing gained

  4. Well whilst fishing last night, four young men set up near me for a bit of carp bashing. a friend of mine wandered over to them and asked why they kill carp.... "well they're ruin the environment, they muddy up the water" but this lake is pretty clear. "they kill other fish" but there's plenty of roach, perch and trout in here and carp aren't predatory. "they spread disease". All the standard answers. They left at about midnight and I checked out their swim in the morning, fag buts everywhere, ring pulls, bread tags and some plastic packaging from their cigarettes.... All with a bin just 25ft away. I know who's really damaging the environment!

  5. Just been having a think, how would splicing the hook on work for you? It does give a stiffer section near the hook, and then whipping on your hair or even using a sliding ring on the shank stopped with a rig stop bead? If you do splice it, with the stiffer section you could use it for a pop-up or snowman rig with the rig ring, or with a whipped hair as a bottom bait rig.

    Carp Gear

In Canada I've gotten away with buying new reels from England sent by post and no duty or tax and VAT discounted from purchase but 2nd hand rods from the US sent by post held up by customs and sales tax and a collection fee charged on delivery. It's a bit of a crap shoot here. Using mail instead of courier service generally gets me out of paying any duty or fees to custom houses so I always use the mail when buying anything from outside tbe country. Conversly I know owners of a tackle shop who have an account with a courier company through necessity for the business and they have no trouble with them. Oz is further away (from anywhere, ha ha) so likely very different. When I ordered my reels from Billy Clarke in Sheffield they quoted me way more for postage than I thought it would be and I said why? They said well they weigh x which is more than Royal Mail's cutoff for the lower tier price. I said but the specs say they weigh Y! He said yes but with the boxes, spare spools etc it's over, let me weigh again and I'll get back. He comes back and says without either the boxea or the spare spools I can mail them for the lower cost. I said wonderful, keep the boxes. A week later I had my reels and spare spools. Really got to hand it to the guy, between that and patience confirming my credit card I'd say they went the extra mile to get my gear to me, and that's why I always name them.

You could check Billy Clarke Tackle in Sheffield, they were great shipping to me in Canada and the website says they do Aus - doesn't cost anything to shoot them an email.
