  2. Not sure if this would be classed as a priceless moment πŸ˜‚ I fished thorny Weir and the mets donkeys ago and had a mental take ! My left rod was cast about 50 yds out in line with a sunken barge they have in the lake and this torpedo came back at me the shot to the left into a overhanging bushes area of the margin where a few coots were hiding. Well I did manage to land the coot but the carp had got off the hook.

  4. I bought a ftx bugster monster truck thing few years back..it was great fun and stupidly fast , I upgraded the chassis and other components to metal it cost me a quite a few quid and it just kept stripping the drive pinion gear . I ended up selling it ! My best mate is an ftx nut has several vantages and carnages and untold boxes of bits , it was he who persuaded me to get into the damn thing's lol . I did always like the crawlers though πŸ‘Œ

After reading this thread I now understand why most venues prohibit wading . Scary stuff ! 😱
  6. Blank night, new swim 3 islands and 4 channels to go at. Just one fizzer seen and closer than I was fishing. Back down Thursday 🀞
  7. As @salokcinnodrog has said, just google and search, a very quick check by me seems to dig up a few results there πŸ˜‚ You do know this is Carp Forum tho? Perhaps, try a barbel forum? However I suspect they are even more secretive than any Carp forum?
  8. Your best bet is probably a very good search through Ebay, hoping someone has obsolete stock, or is selling one.

  10. Hello there I'm after one of these rods I have one I just want a matching pair for barbel fishing any one know of one going anywhere cheers Billy
  11. Hey! Another American angler here. Old thread but I thought I would reply in case it helps someone. I am in the very bottom of America, and turtles in isolation are incredibly cool animals. However, in fishing context, I have become convinced they are relentless hell beasts that serve satan. That being said, there are some things you can do to slow them down. Do not use any marine proteins or any proteins at all for that matter. For flavors only use fruit, sweet things like caramel etc and grains. I use fermented feed corn with oats as a pack bait. I use fake sinking corn as the hook bait, as when they do find it they can’t chew it apart. I also use flavored tiger nuts I make (banana, anise, chili). They can crunch them but usually leave them alone. Good luck

  13. I stepped out from some reeds into what looked to be water of only a few inches deep, yet I disappeared over my chest waders and struggled badly to move and get back out. Silt is VERY dangerous! I always use a prodding stick now after that experience.
  14. Hard to believe she is 11 now
  15. That is changing. What us guys in the UK would call proper carp angling is becoming more and more popular over there and has been since the 90's. Some decent starting points below if you're interested. All strictly catch/release in principle. Home β€” American Carp Society Home - Carp Anglers Group A good while back the US record was caught in a river in Connecticut. It was 44 lb as I recall (far surpassed nowadays by fish well over 60 lb). I used to work for a US company and travelled to CT regularly, and that same river actually went through the grounds of the the site I used to visit. I never got to fish it but every day I'd be down there at some point looking for monsters.
  16. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/invasives/aquaticanimals/commoncarp/index.html Carp are not welcome in the US but after 140 odd years there here to stay and luve in all 48 contiguous states plus Hawaii and also in parts of Northern Mexico . Leftyhunter
  17. etes a funny video of a smaft pike vstwo xarp used for bait. Leftyhunter H
  18. The guest on the baitworks podcast from 9/1 is all about carp fishing in America and he has now started a podcast all about it so that may be of help to you.. have a little look The guest is usually on after the first hour. https://baitworks.libsyn.com/website/96-the-carp-fishing-podcast-joel-harber-usa-bears-big-carp
  19. Catfish are an essential part of cusine in the American South and have been raised in commercial farms for many decades. There are commercial catfish tackle and baits in the US. Different states have different limits on various catfish species vs no limits on any of the foreign carp species and often no limit on the native buffalo carp. Japan has high quality largemouth bass fishing at surprisingly reasonable prices. Cuba had excellent bass fishing not sure what bass fishing scene is like today. Fishing in Cuba might be less costly then in the US. In the US large and small mouth bass are the most popular freshwater game fish species with trout not far behind. Leftyhunter
  20. That's so insane to me, catfish are utter trash, ugly, slimy overgrown tadpoles. I can maybe see the desire to catch a huge Wells catfish like 150lb plus, but the smaller species such as the Channel Catfish are just plain pointless to me, I'd rather blank tbh Carp are different class entirely as I'm sure you agree. Would love to visit the US for some quality lure fishing for Bass and maybe some carp fishing - catfish no thanks, your compatriots are all bonkers lol
  21. I saw that the last thread was two years old. Carp fishing in the US is not all that popular although there are a few anglers who target carp . American fishermen for some reason consider carp a trash fish and if they catch one mostly while fishing for catfish they just throw them away or use them for catfish bait. On youtube there are a fair amount of videos showing that carp be eaten and at least one fish and game department ( Nebraska) encourages people to eat carp by having a cook at various outdoor events give samples of carp meat to folks plus demonstrating to cook them. Carp are plentiful in the Midwest and most likely elsewhere. There is a fair amount of bowfishing for carp in California. Carp are definitely underfunded in the US and most likely the US many times the amount of carp the the UK. Leftyhunter

  26. OK so i picked up a set of 3.25tc Torrix with a Torrix marker as well for Β£500. 4 years old and they look in great condition. Pretty happy with that, was a little more than i wanted to pay but i felt it was worth it.
  27. Welcome to carp.com We do have a specific section of the forum devoted to American Carp fishing, although it has been quiet (https://forum.carp.com/forum/16-north-american-carp-fishing/) and a moderator who actually lives and fishes there. I know North America is big, but hopefully he can point you in the right direction.
  28. I live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and am new to carp fishing. I caught my first carp a few weeks ago just using a mustard hook and canned cor. The carp was 25 inches ling. Unlike the UK no US state as far as I know as any season or limit on the various carp species in the US . I caught a common aka Eurasian carp and there are quite a few in South Dakota. I would like a partner to learn more about carp fishing. Leftyhunter
  29. I've got a set of 12' 3.25lb TC Torrix's and I'm not selling them!
