There was a lot of stinky winky talk in the early days leaving the receiver at home !! can honestly say I donโt think itโs ever happened as usually the receiver is kept in the same bag as the alarms. what if the receiver packs up !! what if a normal receiver packs up you still missed the bite either way. i think in the 20+ years they have been available they have proven very reliable and the only problem anyone reported was sticky cases..

I was back home by 9.15 pm, lap of 2 lakes, swims I wanted gone, could have stayed and fitted in but thought better of it, going Bluebell Sunday anyway. Wrong attitude but bit fed up with members from other lakes being allowed to fish ours coz theirs is flooded. I can see why a mate fishes a nature reserve with 5 fish in it now, seems crazy but its you verses them nobody treading on your toes ๐คทโโ๏ธ
-
It was just enough to allow the fish to slip the hook, not total opening and rebending. Elastic springback is I think it's name. From memory it is where the outer layers stretch and the middle is compressed. Once the force is removed it returns to shape

Looks nice, I have been getting mass gainer shakes as I lost near two stone last year now take half the recommended amount of a protein shake each day works that's for sure be perf3ct on the bank in summer, the one from Optimum Nutrition is packed with all sorts not just protein. Definitely works I shot back up to 9st lol.

New ATTs alarms with speaker?
salokcinnodrog replied to OldBoy's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
It is if you don't bring it with you๐ My overnight kit is in a rucksack, and the receiver lives in a pocket in that, my day kit is my tackle box, so I don't bring it with me. On a day session it is not like I am miles away from the rods, or deep asleep. -
It has been a while since our bankside cuisine has been on show so as Google does not like old threads, I'll start afresh. Last night I had rump steak, so tonight's dinner was the steak trimmings turned into a curry with a diced potato, baby corn, chopped mangetout, fine green beans and half a tin of chopped tomatoes and Garam Masala and a dash of chilli powder.

I've got to try and entertain 2 kids on the bank this weekend, god knows what I am going to feed them. Good luck Kev at least you have pastries ๐
-
I think they have missed a trick and not using the same type of speaker as the old optonic would have still been waterproof then and no different in style maybe a little fatter to account for another little PCB?
-
When I belonged to the fly dressers guild once we mounted a hook into a vice we were taught to ping test it if it didnโt ping get rid. if a hook could straighten we could go back to using the bent hook rig safely lol
-
This is what I've realised ๐ Must be an age thing coz it seems that every year I forget what my main meals were on the bank in the previous years, suddenly I haven't got a clue what to take. Going late tonight and it's steak, new potatoes and peas Friday night, then back home Saturday and planning the meals for a 2 night social at Bluebell Sun - Weds. Weathers looking good for the following weekend down the syndi again, westerlies and rain - fingers and toes crossed for that one, gonna be there Thurs night for first dibs on swims for the long weekend ๐

You won't catch if you ain't got a pastry selection.

New ATTs alarms with speaker?
elmoputney replied to OldBoy's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Just have your receiver with you it's not complicated really put it on a lanyard, I sometimes just leave it on a bucket or in my bivvy pocket somewhere I know I'll hear it. -
-
If you ever decide to buy the front bars with bucket holder or just the front bars with shelf to take the weight of a heavy front bag - you're looking for the bigger sized bars as it's the Mk2 ๐ Also got wider wheel forks if you need a replacement wheel
-
Got the front bag and barrow tidy on the way plus sides, so long as I get my tea kit at the front, the side bags take all the pod and bank stick gear alarms scales and baiting up equipment that sort of thing, be a fat boy evo once I get the rear wheels on it

New ATTs alarms with speaker?
salokcinnodrog replied to OldBoy's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I do use my alarms without the receiver every now and again on day only sessions, so for them to be audible is important to me. At night though I wouldn't be without the receiver next to my head on the storm pole -
Have to agree elmoputney, Still makes me laugh when alarms have soo many features. imh totally not needed, a take is either a drop back or a run, never needed anything else.. what do I know tho, used to used Optonics hard wired to a BiTech viper alarm box lol

New ATTs alarms with speaker?
elmoputney replied to OldBoy's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
If I felt I was missing out having a speaker I might, but tbh I've got used to the receiver now and love just having that nearby at all times. -
Thanks, might cost me money.... but a classic phrase.... why replace something that isn't broken ๐ Also the speaker might comprimise how waterproof the original ones are?

I saw them at the Essex carp show, they are sweet, come with snag backs as standard. They don't seem to be released yet though. -

They've been demoing them at the carp shows. Due out this year.

You're mistaken Nick. The laws of physics prevent this. There is no mechanism that makes it physically possible. I was the Manager of every lab and quality function in Europe for one of the worlds biggest metal-forming and heat-treating organisations in the world for 17 years. So I know this. Modulus of elasticity of steel is a constant. It is slightly different for different grades of steel but all in the same range. It is a physical property of steel that can only be altered by heat treatments: - Under-treated steel has a lower yield point so the hook will be subject to plastic deformation more readily, making it impossible for a hook to regain shape after straightening. Over-treated steel will lead to embrittlement which means tensile strength will be exceeded more readily (which means a snapped hook). Again, impossible. There is no characteristic in steel that can feasibly vary from batch to batch that can result in the phenomenon you think you saw. Perfectly feasible and I expect most seasoned anglers will have seen this at some point. But a hook straightening out and springing back into shape is not possible.

Hi Guys, As a long term user of ATTs, I remember reading a while they were going to bring out an ATTs alarm with a speaker, maybe to replace the other alarm they used to do? Not seen anything more about this, not on website, maybe a step to far for an alarm I have had over 10 years and is bomb proof. Does anyone else have more info?
