One of my favourite open access waters has put the prices up.,it's a lovely safe ,secure place .. I've just worked it out ,for me to do a 48 hr sess, all things considered including Fuel ,its an hours drive on bad rural roads Food Bait and other sundries ,I'm now looking at 100 quid for a 48 hr ,I shall still fish it ,but not as many sessions ,for me it's too much outgoings ...so really ,they've lost custom in reduction of potential sessions from me ,I know a few who are saying the same ...so in a way the reduction of footfall is counter productive ...to putting up the prices ... Lots of full carp set ups for sale, not only post scamdemic either, have some places priced themselves out of reality of today's climate ..?

Is it one you have done yourself or Tropamino ? Egg Albumen will make a harder skin on the outside whilst retaining a softer centre, blood plasma will firm it through, if you just need egg albumen for making 1 egg pick up some egg white powder from the supermarket baking aisle

Witley Park.,of course very ,very famous Crucian water ,huge bags of Crucians not unheard of ... Family member ,used to belong to Merton AC and fish matches on it ,coach used to pick them up ..

Bought a pair of super light weight foldable 2.5 litre water cannisters from Prolite explorer... One in the car as a spare, other on the bank .. They are good, especially if your trying to cut down on weight kit etc..

Yes hopefully, very happy with the basemix that rolls well, smells good and seems like it should be a decent bait. Pretty much think I have the recipe bang on now, For some reason I've struggled more with hookbaits but I think i just needed to add some egg albumen to firm them up a bit, I threw a load out but pretty happy with the latest ones now they are being glugged. Just need to start catching for confidence but enjoying the ride so far.

Look like a good start to your journey @elmoputney hopefully some of those will put some fish on the bank soon.

Permission granted 😂
-
It is, if I get the big one 😉
-
I would leave them in the garage will be fine in these temps, not worth the risk. 😂
-
Ive got to try and get the maggots in the fridge without being detected.🤞 Ill say its some magic hookbaits (not specialised! )
-
I may have got rumbled for my extra sections of bushwhacker, luckily the first one got through customs without being scanned.
-
Of course not. But tbf she knows that whatever I tell her it costs, she has to double it then add some 🤣
-
I bet you dont tell her how much all those little packets are?🫣
-
Made me chuckle. That's what the mrs calls it when I show up with a bunch of those little packets 😅

4 pints of wrigglers, 20k of 10 & 15mm boilies, some matching glug and stick mix. About £50's worth of plastic and bits of metal. New catapult elastic. New alarm batteries BIG SOCIAL next week, so I'm probably talking the kitchen sink as well!
-
I've made some hard hookers today and some sinking wafters, or light bottom baits as I prefer to call them. I then made a glycerin based bait spray, that is too viscous to spray 😂 But I've given my hookbaits a coating, and they now smell amazing. And will hopefully harden more and become crayfish resistant.
-
And then I got another £25 off voucher so bought 5 extensions for £55, I'm now up to 6 wraps capability. Can't wait for next week now.

They are common carp, 2 mirrors. They are remnants of a well managed clean, UV filtered, disease free Koi pond. The Koi have already been removed.
-
Well something learned today! Fair play @yonny I'd still be very careful for the above reasons.
-
Probably better putting them on Facebook and one of the koi keepers pages of which there are probably a few
-
Yeah that's a massive no-no! Very dangerous, could easily wipe out the fishery.
-
My father ,was a BCSG member ,it was very common to move home bred Koi around various members ponds if they liked the colours or patterns ... But last yr ,and I found out who it was ,a new villiager emptied his pond ,that's blue orf,and lots of brown gold fish into the local pools ,day ticket they didn't live long and any parasites ,diseases could have ruined the existing carp, rudd, roach and so on ... If your fish are going into a private ,backyard pond ,don't worry about it....
-
You can, mate. As long as it's not a commercial activity (i.e. fisheries) its perfectly legal to rehome carp and koi etc. Obviously can be risky due to biosecurity but perfectly ok legally. Edit: They're basically pets so same rules apply.

Hi Jonk. Are you talking about a small garden pond for decoration? What type of carp are these? Are they Koi (ornamental) or mirror/common carp? If you have ornamental fish, there are probably different rules (speak to a Koi retailer), but if you have normal common/mirror carp, then the rules are covered by EA/CEFAS. Another place to look at at is to google 'moving ornamental fish from a garden pond'. There is some guidance from specialists there who will probably gladly speak to you about the requirements. Good luck.
