i fish a lake with a black silt lakebed , before now ive used the kyston snakebite material in brown , seing as the lake bed is black silt i want to change to a black hooklink , ive read other threads about hooklinks but no colours are mentioned , i recently bought suffix stiff silt but find that the coating is too thick its more like wire than coated braid , i would like to try two hooklinks a coated one and a non coated supple braid , also what about braking strains .i say that because there are snaggy spots around the lakebed , what does every body think of flurocarbon ?

i know its a big question but i would appretiate the help , anything to help me bank more fish , it is a quite a intimadating water but my favorate.

thanks :D ps happy new year to everyone

Hello mate happy new year to you too.

I normaly use esp striptease for alot of my fishing as im confident in it and if your fishing silty place it changes colour and breaks it up a bit, especially when fishing over silt it takes the colour of the bottom on a bit.

How about ESP Sinklink. Haven't used it myself but I've used Drennan Dacron and have full confidence in the brand.

its quite thin compared to snakebite you can get 2 colours i think one is browny colour and the other green i think not 100% sure. But like i say once its been on bottom it tends to take colour on. Its coated aswell so u can strip it back and make different rigs.

This thread cover some of the hooklink question, plus in some of the links on that, an occasional swipe at other subjects :lol:

Also I'm not sure if it has been mentioned in any of them, but have a search for Kryston SuperSilk

ive got a spool of esp sinklink so ill giv that a go ,

solak , i read both of those threads already  i had a good mooch round yesterday, i'm goin to a tackle shop near tomorra to see if i can get my hands on some mantis dark , and ill try the super silk , that must be good if you have faith in it , i trust the kryston stuff ,

noknot , i also have a spool of dacron . its solid black . ive had afew fish on it , it used it a few years ago , but it is only in 8lb breaking strain so it could be dangerous

whats the differance between silk-worm and super silk ?

Silkworm has a brown fleck to it, and is slightly buoyant.

Supersilk is a white colour but takes on the colour of the lakebed, and is slightly thinner. I would also recommend the Grinner/Uni knot for them both.

When you use SuperSilk, make sure each cast you check and remove any twist

You can buy proper tools to strip the coating from braid, but i use my teeth. Esp, Fox & Suffix strip easily enough

hey mate, ive been using korda supernatural, they do it in both gravel brown and weed green, and as like most of the korda end tackle im sure they would do a dark colour to match silt? but ive got nothing but praise for this hooklink...

hope this helps, tight lines

i fish a silty local water, i always used esp striptease until about 6 months ago, i was given a spool of 'fox coretex' by a mate. its a coated braid with a black coating. altough it is available in different colours. the coating is one of the easiest i have come across to remove too, easily peeling away with a fingernail.

for a coated braid its still supple at the same time retaining some stifness for use in combi rigs etc.

since i first used it i have had an increased number of takes, probably 15 - 20 percent. i wouldnt use any other braided hooklink now. :D
