occido Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 I'm going to be doing some surface fishing with hair rigged boilies using a 4-5 foot hooklength. I was wondering if anyone had an alternative to the knotless knot as I want to pre tie the hairs without having to transport them with 5 foot hooklengths on. Quote
beanz Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 just tie a loop then , then when you get there thread the loop thro the eye of hook with pre tied hair on and pass hook back thro loop job done:D Quote
occido Posted July 28, 2005 Author Report Posted July 28, 2005 Thx. Not sure exactly what you mean though. Quote
beanz Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 not sure if im alound to do this but look at fatcarp.com click on OTHERS then on MEMBERS RIGS its called the quick change that what i was trying to explain hope it helps but u wont need the rig ring on it and u can trap your hair on shank of hook with shrink tube Quote
occido Posted July 28, 2005 Author Report Posted July 28, 2005 Thx, got it now. Shrink tubings a good idea, just bought some but havent used it for anything yet. Gonna have plenty of time to tie some rigs with this dismal weather were having. Quote
kidda Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 an alternative to the knotless knot, is the matchmens way of attaching spade end hooks. or even try a knotless knot, with a loop rather than a hair. Quote
maxwell999 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 As kidda says, the spade end knot is good. I use it with zig rigs tie my hook to a spool of line, then i can transport it spooled up and easily cut it to the required length. Quote
beanz Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 but you cant easyly change the hook which is what occido was asking its just like a loop 2 loop but 1 loop is the eye of the hook Quote
occido Posted August 2, 2005 Author Report Posted August 2, 2005 The problem was that I was going to be using 4-5 foot hooklengths for floater fishing and wanted to pre tie hairs without having to transport them on the long hooklengths. I have been tying a normal knotless then trapping the end down the shank with shrink tube as beanz suggested. Then using a palomar knot to tie on the eyed hook. Thx for replies. Quote
snag Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 try superglueing baits direct to hook then tie on with palomar knots. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 Why do you need to take so many rigs? Just take your hooklink line and a packet of hooks and tie them if you need them. I have one tied up on my floater rod at all times and if I loose a fish just tie up another long hooklink. Quote
