Lure fishing for perch.

Evening all.

Who on here lure fishes for perch?.

Want to give it a go this winter.

What sort of lures have people had luck on and do you use a wire trace in case of pike?.

Normally just small  2 -3 inch little rattlers muft on a coated length of trace . I normally cut at least one hook off sometimes two if there trebbles on the lure , causes a lot less damage.

I've done well using ondex spinners, like chillfactor says, I don't like using full trebles either, I always find they get themselves hooked deep, so I'll cut 2 of the trebles off or switch it to a size 2 or 4 hook.

I'll use a wire trace just incase I hook into a pike but a lot of people don't bother and reckon perch are less likely to go for a lure attached to a wire trace.

I'm not sure how true that is but I thought I'd share lol.

Don't wanna leave a pike with a lure stuck in its gob.

I use soft plastics with jig heads or drop shotting... and I always use traces if I know Pike are likely to be present.... Drennan multistrand in 5kg is supple enough to knot, not been bitten off yet
