ms1970
Unfortunately broke my line clip on Daiwa Emcast BR 4500 it was one of those horrid plastic shark tooth styles. Spoke to Daiwa this morning they don't do replacement clips for that spool so £20 for a new spool plus postage. Does anyone know if the plastic line clips are all universal its just screws inside the spool with a tiny crosshead screw or does any kind hearted person have an old spool they no longer require and could possibly send the line clip? Or any DIY line clip suggestions. Many thanks.
cyborx
could try ringing jims reels, just a thought. you know that Diawa recommend that the line clip not be used when casting dont you? its purely a line tidy http://jimsreelshop.co.uk/epages/50de3a2f-b72e-4eac-861b-30c18ef9512f.sf/en_GB/?ViewAction=View&ObjectID=4896551&PageSize=36&OrderBy=NameOrAlias&OrderDesc=0 ms1970

chillfactor
If your going to replace it go stainless steel, much kinder on the line than the rubbish plastic ones daiwa fit . Keep meaning to get mine changed on my BR's. A mate had his changed by custom reels you can find them on fb did a pukka job for him . salokcinnodrog
Those 'horrible plastic Shark tooth' things? It took me 10 years to break one of those on my Aerlex reels. It is probably only the past 5 years that they have had metal clips, and compared to the circular metal clip on my Baitrunner Shimmy's I much prefer the plastic thing. The line sits behind it better and does not unclip with those plastic ones. As mentioned, they weren't actually designed as a casting clip, but instead as a a line clip to prevent the line free spooling while not on the rod. I wonder if Shimano and Daiwa are different in strength and materials? I think Tacklebox may do spare spool parts as well, but not 100% sure
chillfactor
My shimano reels have round stainless ones ... much prefer them to the plastic toothy one's on my daiwa's
