carpinthenet
hi guys, i know theres a few threads on lakes in france and loads online but theres so many to choose from. i would like to go next year in the summer I'm looking for a lake that isn't to big, the fish in the lake don't need to be really big i don't want it to be really easy but not extremely hard can't be stupidly expensive i also don't want it to take ages to get there by car. think thats all thanks joe
welder
Joe, check out Rushes Lake. I've been there twice and it ticks all of your boxes. Google Rushes Lake, you'll be glad that you did. Vire en Champagne, Sarthe, France. Ian
leggs007
I can second that having been twice not sure about a short drive tho but not to big of a lake with some decent fish the food package is a must and saves on space time and effort doing it yourself Gets booked up very quickly so if your interested get In touch with Kim soon
Turnip
See what I mean, citn. Told you it was a good lake. 3 out of 3 can't be too far wrong.
freeman0121
How long would it take roughly to drive there from birmingham do you think?
carpinthenet
it would take 9hours if you get the ferry from dover, 514miles and from portsmouth it is 314miles and will apparently take 10hours

leggs007
If you get overnight ferry to Caen it's only about 2hrs from Caen but boat takes 9hrs from Calais it about 4-5hr drive
welder
Last time I went was with Mick Leggs and others. We used the tunnel rather than the ferry. Fast and efficient. I won't use the ferry ever again. Ian
Turnip
The length of time it took us from home departure to arrival last week - I'm sure with a little help we could have built a tunnel from Calais to Les Nouys.
dayvid
Has Rushes lake removed a lot of fish to allow it to become a big fish venue.
Turnip
It has been netted, and from what Iain was saying a fortnight ago - ',...it will be netted at the end of this/start of next season'. I can reliably inform you that not all the fish in the lake are giants . Digression - the lake is up for sale.

welder
When I was last there, in 2012, Iain implied that he and Kim were considering selling up and retiring to Cornwall. Looks like they're doing just that. In recent years Iain hasn't enjoyed good health so maybe the "lure" of the NHS is a consideration. If I should win the Euromillions some day soon................... Ian
