stickmix Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 ZIG ALIGNA. For a pop-up, chod or zig. Thread the maggots onto a needle and bait floss, pass the needle under the band and tie them on. You can dispense with the ZIG ALIGNA and just tie them onto rig foam (works for me). dalthegooner Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 Looks good stick, but doesn't the weight of the maggots turn it funny against the weight of the hook  If I remember correctly (After reading something on here) putting maggots in hot, but not boiling, water makes them buoyant which would alleviate that issue. ianain Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 Cold water does it as well, just a little otherwise they escape! Â But I think they would still offset the balance? Don't know though. Quote
nigewoodcock Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 I've had foam hold up a few worms on a chod section. I can't see a few maggots effecting it as pictured! Quote
ianain Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 These are plastic maggots ? Â They're good imitations if they are Quote
stickmix Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 These are plastic maggots ? Â No, they are live maggots. I use 3 or 4 at a time, no problems with buoyancy. You could use fake or better still a mixture. I like the movement from the live ones. Ray Hall and dalthegooner 2 Quote
stickmix Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Looks good stick, but doesn't the weight of the maggots turn it funny against the weight of the hook Doesn't seem to, I've tested it in the margins and it sits as in the picture. Maybe because more of the foam is above the aligna. Quote

Donk83 Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I like a bright pop up with a small rig ring to hold it in place. Then I attach the floss and about 6 to 8 maggots to the ring. I'll be using this on Friday if I get out stickmix 1 Quote
