carpersmithy Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 i'm wanting to experiment with one of my rods (i use 3) using a fluro hooklink,i've picked up a spool of esp ghost and was wondering how to straighten it out when making the hook length never used it before but the appeal of it been almost invisible and stiffer than my normal braid appeals to me any help appreciated lads thanks Quote
fraserking Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 I just rub it backwards and forwards on my strides and then hold it straight for about 10 seconds. It responds well to being warmed up, some people steam it but I think that weakens the material and it's not necessary. Quote
muftyboy Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 i do exactly the same as fraser, i also use a solar wide gape x hook with flouro, and use quite a long hooklink, at least a foot long, i don't think ive ever lost a fish on this set up, cheers mufty Quote
coops_northants Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Buy rigmarole fluro, all you do is pull it straight, its awsome. Quote
carpersmithy Posted July 28, 2011 Author Report Posted July 28, 2011 cheers lads will look into the rigmarole aswell Quote
mattgroves Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 I also use ESP Ghost, be wary of using inturned eyed hooks as you'll close the gape with the stiff ghost, even straight eyes might be an issue... I use it for chods (hook is Korda Choddy B) or true combi-links with some Kryston braid and Fox SSC/SSBP hooks (so the Ghost isn't actually tied to the hook). Quote
dougmoon Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 rigmarole fluro for me every time doug Quote
rossmc Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 I use the ghost hook link but found the bait didnt move freely enough for my liking so I added an inch of braid to the end of the fluro (grinner to grinner knot) and tied the hook to the braid. Quote
cobleyn Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 As above. Rub it across your trousers till it gets warm and use the middle straightened section...not the bit in your fingers that still curled. Also make sure you use a loop not or ringed swivel to allow it to pivot at the lead end. Quote

I second that, the stuff is called "H2O" and works very well, you can screw this stuff up into a ball with lots of kinks in it, and with the help of a hook puller and a pair of scissors/forceps the hooklink straightens perfectly with just a bit of tension...
