nsarkar
Has anybody fished Holt Pool (opposite Top Barn) lately ? Is the bailiff stillthe same miserable bloke who takes the money at Top Barn?
stoogi
No, Dennis hasn't been bailif for years. Bill (the guy with the gun) does the job much better.
nsarkar
I've actually never fished it. whats the stock like? any idea of rules on there ? I seem to remember there were loads which was why we never bothered with it
stoogi
The stock is quite high in all 3 pools. I've fished there a few times over the years & only had 1 blank. Barbless hooks & no boilies (from memory)
zakt595
Didnt they lose there stock a few yrs back due to floods ?
stoogi
A few may have gone, but it left more than enough at the time.
choc
I used to fish it in the early 80s. It was a great venue until the owner, I think now deceased, doubled the price of the ticket and banned boilies . There were some nice fish but I also think they lost a some although a few years back now.
nsarkar
how much are the tickets now?
stoogi
It isn't cheap at £7.50 per rod (unless you know the bailif really well ) but fish it right & you'll only need the one rod.
nsarkar
£7.50 a rod!!!!!! way too expensive! its hardly a top carp fishery! lmao!
Bob
Bill (man with the gun) is a top bloke ps his gun works I've just witnessed it !
cyborx
£7.50 a rod!!!!!! way too expensive! its hardly a top carp fishery! lol! if you play your cards right £7.50 for two rods aint bad Bill (man with the gun) is a top bloke ps his gun works I've just witnessed it ! can vouch for bill being a top bloke, he is also amenable to a bit of beer money too lol (just means no ticket)
cyborx
talking about holt pool, just found these in an old album folder on me pc, and a couple of the local residents nostalgic look back to warmer days

cyborx
Looks lovely there don't know about now but it was always a nice day out. i didn't actually catch that fish in the first pic, i had left my boilie on a slab by the waters edge and the carp wriggled onto the slab and slurped it up. i wish i had had a camcorder there cos it was hilarious, three of us were laughing so hard that he almost got the rod as well
Youngfisher16
Don't know if any of you have been to holt pool recently but he's really let it go down hill it's very over grown with overhanging trees and the only way to catch is to get right by the bank not like it used to be. Don't think it's been Stocked in years Edited September 18, 2016 by Youngfisher16 Youngfisher16
