lakespear Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Hi all Does anyone know anything about a new rig called the Litter Rig? I am having problems fishing over a messy bottom and have been told that the rig will help by an angler. I cant find any info about it. All the best Lake Quote
zammmo Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I was watching a vid the other day DF talking to some French bloke, the hook on his rig had bits of tubing coming off the hook to disguise the shape..Could this be it? Quote
beanz Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 it sounds like some 'reinvented' rig like silt/chod ,going off the "litter" description or may a crisp packet over the hook length ???? Quote
minimartin Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 the man df was talking to fished realy clear lakes so had to camouflage the rig so the fish wouldent see it but he also had a rig that had two hairs coming out of it if he was using differnt baits in one area he could have two baits on at the same time. but never heard of a "litter rig" if there was litter on the bottom use the meltable foam u can get to cover the point so it doesent hook on anything at the start Quote

lakespear Posted November 30, 2010 Author Report Posted November 30, 2010 Found it here http://www.aboutcarp.co.uk/litter_rig.html Ill try this on my estate lake in the spring, looks good! Quote
jemsue5 Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 What's so new about that only the same as using a length of leadcore for the hooklink which has been about for at least 15 years. Litter rig lol i've heard it all now. Quote
lakespear Posted November 30, 2010 Author Report Posted November 30, 2010 The difference is its not leadcore but a safer option. Leadcore stinks! Any one who cares about the welfare of carp would say the same!!! Quote
beanz Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 i cant help but laugh when a simple rig gets a tweak then suddenly its a new rig. i added tubing on a hook length once as i didnt have the kit while on the bank to make a combi rig, and wanted a boom on the soft braid i had...do i get naming rights??? but i still cant see that it works like its explained as. surely it still has the possibility of lifting of the deck if a fish wafts it??? then if leafs are stirred up ...the chance to mask the hook....and then if the bottom is more then a chod, wouldnt it sit up ,and possibly spook any fish before they even take it...........then if your going to drop it under the rod tip(like recommended) why even bother with it as id think it would stand out. jemsue5 Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Leadcore now where do we start, i suggest you read through some of the leader debates on here to see my thoughts on the stuff. But here we aren't talking about 5 or 6ft of the stuff but 5 or 6 inches on a hooklink not exactly the same is it. To be honest mate to me the rig in either form isnt needed but thats my opinion after carping for the best part of 30 years using nice and simple rigs. Quote
jemsue5 Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Like Beanz says i cant see it working like they say it will. Reminds me of one of these rigs designed at home and not really tested on the bank. Still give it a try what have you got to lose. Quote
speersy Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 as stated the rig looks a waste of time I like trying new rigs just to see if they are any good there are definitely better rigs out there in my opinion! Quote
willi4692 Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 My problem with this rig is that the tubing would make it very stiff. On a lake bed with lots of debris I would rather a supple hooklink to take on the contours of the lake bed. A stiff hooklink could sit up at funny angles and render the rig virtually useless. Quote
harryw Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 i dont see how this rig is different from a semi stiff coated braid with putty blobbed on it Quote
vinyljunkie Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 what a load of old tosh, when did that rig in the pictures suddenly become named as a litter rig lol, also i wouldn't see this as a particularly effictive rig fished over debris as stated a nice supple hooklink would be a much better option !! right time to get the rig wallet out and start re naming all those rigs in their, might throw a few into the patent office for good measure Quote
