johnplumb Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Hadn't used mono for ages till last September ,was stalking a small swim watching my rigs being picked up and put down ( very wary fish ) made some long mono rigs up , about 24" long picked up 3 fish including a new pb of 28.4 lb Quote

ward2k70 Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 i still use mono if not fishing crystal clear water, i use drennan double strength 15lb always got a spool in the bag Quote
jemsue5 Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Just tied a few up with 15lb drennan crystal, nice and limp and seems spot on to me. I feel that if all we ever used was mono we would still catch the same amount of fish but we've been brainwashed into using braids etc and spending loads of money i mean look how many rigs you could tie from a £3 spool of 12 maxima Quote
138cgj Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Caught my PB on a 10lb double strength hooklink. One fish will hammer it though so even if your hook is still sharp the link will need changing. Quote
jamesuk Posted April 16, 2010 Author Report Posted April 16, 2010 thanks for the replys, i think im going to do a experiment for a couple of months and use mono on one rod and my usual strippable braids on the other and see what happens. Quote
