I fish my line going through the inline lead and tied to a fox no 7 quick link, my hook length has a loop tied to the swivel end that i can remove from the quick link and thread a bag on before each cast. I don't use a leader, but have in the past, it would depend on the water you are fishing and the mainline you use, i haven't used tubing in a long time, tubing has moved on since then, i would happily use some of the tungsten tubing the is about these days, years ago it was very stiff and had no sinking properties, today's tubing is different, and if i was unsure on how to use a leader safely the tubing would be an excellent alternative.

Soz forgot to address the PVA part. That's what i also had problems with, difficult to get a bag on and didn't half mess the cast up, you could try a quick link for the hook length and thread one on that, but it's a bit wobbly in flight.

Not a big fan of the helicopter lead set up, had a play with it the last few years on a chod, didn't come close to my normal in line set up, i will be sticking to that from now on.

Quality bit of filming that, thanks for sharing.

MAINLINE what is everyone using?
Carpbell_ll replied to Bowlad's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
16lb Tiger line, cant fault it, other than having to clean it after each session, i had a pike get it in its mouth on Monday, no damage what so ever, even the lake owner was surprised it didn't cut the line, great stuff, wouldn't want to fill a big spool up with it though -
There were no fish showing earlier this week, it was like they had gone into hiding, the one i had came at 7am, fair few anglers on the lake too, nothing happening in the margins, had the bobbin raise on the margin rod, but it didn't turn into anything.

Magic Lump, with the unofficial video, bit close to the knuckle to post here, but funny as hell.

After my last outing i have decided to look into a new stove,i am currently using one of those flat square cookers, the problems with gas in cold weather and the space it takes up in my bag means i'm looking at one of these by Vango, i know a lot of anglers use similar, if i was to get the 450 gram gas bottle, would that be good for two-three days light use, mainly making tea and cooking one evening meal, most of the time i go for a breakfast on my second day out and have a sandwich in the evening, snacks in-between is normally a bowl of museli http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/folding-stove-p153190

Britain still had naval bases in Singapore into the late 1960s, my cousin was born there as his dad was serving in the navy at the time.

A lot of people in the midlands would agree with that, there are also strong accusations from reliable sources that MM was a British asset, when you look at what his generation did with the republican movement, took what was founded by both Protestant and Catholic Irish and turned it into a sectarian struggle, classic tactics for breaking an insurrection.

The carp zone beds are top draw and a lot cheaper than more well known brands. https://www.carp-zone.co.uk/carpzone-lake-lounger-plus-bedchair.html

Well after reading the last few posts i have been listening to these guys, at least the people in the republic seem to have moved on. cracking bit of humor.

Rods need re-whipping, any recommendations?
Carpbell_ll replied to chris's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Best off phoning a few rod builders and speaking direct, i would imagine it will be quite expensive, for the builder the labor hours will be the same as doing a new set of rods, i have heard Fosters of Birmingham offer a good service, you could do it yourself, plenty of videos on the net to follow, you can always strip them back and do them again if you are not happy with your work the first time around. -
Just got a copy of the first book, read it before when it was serialised in CW, looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

If you can find a place that will do it at a price you are happy with, i'd stick with the Harrisons. -
Funnily enough, i bought for the odd occasion the mrs might come with me, she never has though, but yes i could get two beds in, you might need the extra skin to keep the condensation out as with two beds, you might be touching the sides a bit.

I use the JRC contact 2 man, cant fault it, had it a number of years now and still going strong.

Drones are already banned on my water, the guys on Carpcast mentioned that more waters are starting to ban all electronic aids, such as baitboats and fish finders? Saying that, baitboats have been banned on Kingsbury for a number of years now, still see people using them though.

Long rods are not just about the cast and even at 5',6'' you would soon get used to how to get the best out of a cast, longer rods also give a better line pick up when fishing at distance, making putting the hook home on the take more of a guarantee than a shorter rod, 12 foot is ideal for most waters in this country and they would be fine with your height, i'm only 5'8'' ish myself.

I can second the Argos brollies, if you are only doing days the one with sides is ideal and a bargain.

I'm not too sure on the forum rules for selling stuff, so i didn't link it, if you look on the west midlands gumtree you will see both adds in the fishing tackle section. All the end tackle is top brand goods too. -

The same guy also has other adds on GT, seems he is closing a shop of some sorts, got eight grands worth of unused end tackle up for sale, wants 3500 for that. Just shows how low the resale value of fishing gear is, a lot on here thought it might be a bit dodgy at that price, -

I doubt it is nicked, too many boxes with reels and spare spools, plus the guy is selling from his home address, now if he wanted to meet in a pub car park or a service station, that would raise an eyebrow or two. -

Had some cracking deals from the car boot, Gumtree is another good one, there is a add on the west mids page for all you would ever need, all top of the range kit, the guy wants 1800 quid but is open to offers as he wants rid as they say, everything looks brand new. Plus you get to pick items up from the sellers home.
