  1. From the album: A few over the years

    https://carpychrons.wordpress.com/2016/08/25/river-carping-2016-pt-2/
  2. Yes daletronrics. Looks like he is the guy to use.
  3. Think mine were replaced and with p&p around £15. I much prefer my mk1s to the newer ones. Think I'll get them fully refreshed by a company I saw on Facebook when they give up the ghost. In regards to line I've not had a problem when using the usual 15lb line in mono or fluoro and 18lb for the river.
  4. My delks mk1s are the same. But just looking at how you've set them the sensitivity is not the same on both alarms. The left hand looks set to a lower number than the right hand rod. I've found the tiniest adjustment can be the difference between sensitivity. Also when you switch them on do you set them on HI or LOW? On HI your alarm will register the tiny knocks however on LOW it won't register them. I tend to have mine on LOW when it's windy or fishing over lots of particle and small fish are present. Hope that clarifies a few bits for you. If everything is set the same and it's still a problem then maybe the Y bar is knackered. I had this problem and just sent off to delkim to get it replaced. Not costly at all.
  5. it's true, I find it to be all over the shop and sliding but rather that than a trek with a flat tyre!
  6. there isnt as much give in the tyre, I found the same but just means more of a workout!
  7. I have the wychwood tactical (compact) and its light as anything and comfy. I seem to sleep better in it than my actual bed at home. Think the larger versions are still very light.
  8. I have the handle only, thought it was great until I upgraded and felt how heavy it actually was. Now on the sonik sks net and the handle is 10x lighter and so much more manoeuvrable. Make sure you get a beefy net float for it to make your life easier!
  9. I always use mine though to rest the rod butts on? but to be fair its annoying and slips a lot of the time even when its screwed in tight!
  10. just been browsing barrows to see whats out there, why do none of them have Y bars anymore?
  11. I learnt the hard way when my wheel punctured and I was about a mile from the car, walking through long grass with all my kit on after a night was not fun. I used to keep a pump in my under bag though so kept stopping to re-inflate every 250m. with a 4 mile walk you dont want to be stuck there with a puncture. forget the prestige puncture proof tyre, take the normal one to somewhere like B&Q or garden centre and see if they have a matching wheelbarrow tyre that's puncture proof. much cheaper.
  12. too true, all about keeping the weight balanced if you can, with that small amount of kit you'll have no problems. I use the old mk2 for all my kit and it has to be packed a certain way otherwise I weep (maybe im just OCD). once you have it sussed its fine. With mine its slightly unbalanced so I put my bait bucket on the handle of the lighter side to try to even it out.
  13. carp porter should do you easily unless you want something smaller? Walking the streets I'd be more comfortable with a puncture proof tyre if I was you.
  14. Yeah but I love a big hook. Look at a size 4 in a 4lb trenches mouth and it puts it in perspective
  15. I'm using the straight point SRs for all my pop up fishing and the medium curve shank for bottom/balanced baits. Not actually put one out yet as tend to stick to pop ups through winter. Pattern seems well suited to the multi rig I use though. I won't stray from fox unless I encounter serious problems.
  16. I found the ones to be fox arms point hooks but now they've revamped them and I'm just testing them out now. Of the 3 fish I've had on them they seem to be bang on functionality. I'm using the straight point stuff riggers. Super sharp out the pack but my only gripe is they seem to blunt very easily and a bit tough to touch up with a point doctor. If I ever change then atomic will be my next stop as only ever heard good things and I use a lot of their end tackle
  17. Been using the Gardner HD this year. Very impressed with it since moving from Ultima Power Carp. Diameter to breaking strain ratio is great. I use the 15lb and its not bulky at all compared to some lines. Sinks very well and as I fish slack a lot it really is good. It is prone to a little bit of coil but only seen this after I've been snagged up and line stretched a little. Normal use it's very supple and easy to work with. I don't cast long range but have hit 100yd with it with my 2.75tc rods (as said I dont fish long range as I dont have a need to mostly). also knots well. I rate it highly. I would be interested to test the wychwood stuff as its an interesting concept, although it becomes less visible after 5ft depth and totally disappears after 15-18ft (sources vary) so unless you are deeper lake does it make much of a difference? especially as algae and bits will still stick to it? I used to use 18lb sensor for river fishing and thats tough stuff, actually snapped a leadless leader before the knot joining it to the line!! But will probably try the 18lb HD stuff in the future.
  18. I use fox submerge leadfree leader.
  19. https://carpychrons.wordpress.com/2016/11/02/in-depth-lead-systems/ My take
  20. custom reels uk, lee valley customs, south custom reels all may be able to fit a spring loaded line clip on the spool.
  21. Yes the thread did help out a bit but mine is the old rx 2000 and most things mentioned are new tech. Potentially the wifi on my phone caused it as I forgot to turn it off!! No wonder my battery went fast as well. My bad. Could be why it's never happened before as well as I always have it off. Cheers guys.
  22. Cheers guys, Steve I'm not there, I'm up oundle way. However I'm fishing Grendon with a couple of mates next weekend. Wonder if it'll kick off then? I would conclude it's my phone charging but it does it when it isn't charging so can't be that. Maybe a cleaner air quality allows the signals from something to travel better and it's picking up my receiver I don't know. I'll change batteries and see if that makes a difference. Only ever time it has happened to me, although I normally keep it on local because I hate waking up for the little bleeps caused by wind, etc on bigger pits. More intimate places like this I've had to put it on high as a bleep is hard to come by!
  23. I've had the two little droopy noises to indicate interference on the radio channel but I've just had a load of static through and it scares the life out of me. This is all on local channel as well so clearly someone with a strong radio signal is nearby. Never happened on this lake before. Wondering if anyone has any tips to get it to shut up, apart from turning it off of course!! I can't have that static wake me up in the night. I'll have a heart attack!
  24. looks suspect to me. Either he is genuine and strapped for cash or its stolen.
