  1. I found the ones to be fox arms point hooks but now they've revamped them and I'm just testing them out now. Of the 3 fish I've had on them they seem to be bang on functionality. I'm using the straight point stuff riggers. Super sharp out the pack but my only gripe is they seem to blunt very easily and a bit tough to touch up with a point doctor. If I ever change then atomic will be my next stop as only ever heard good things and I use a lot of their end tackle
  2. Been using the Gardner HD this year. Very impressed with it since moving from Ultima Power Carp. Diameter to breaking strain ratio is great. I use the 15lb and its not bulky at all compared to some lines. Sinks very well and as I fish slack a lot it really is good. It is prone to a little bit of coil but only seen this after I've been snagged up and line stretched a little. Normal use it's very supple and easy to work with. I don't cast long range but have hit 100yd with it with my 2.75tc rods (as said I dont fish long range as I dont have a need to mostly). also knots well. I rate it highly. I would be interested to test the wychwood stuff as its an interesting concept, although it becomes less visible after 5ft depth and totally disappears after 15-18ft (sources vary) so unless you are deeper lake does it make much of a difference? especially as algae and bits will still stick to it? I used to use 18lb sensor for river fishing and thats tough stuff, actually snapped a leadless leader before the knot joining it to the line!! But will probably try the 18lb HD stuff in the future.
  3. I use fox submerge leadfree leader.
  4. https://carpychrons.wordpress.com/2016/11/02/in-depth-lead-systems/ My take
  5. custom reels uk, lee valley customs, south custom reels all may be able to fit a spring loaded line clip on the spool.
  6. Yes the thread did help out a bit but mine is the old rx 2000 and most things mentioned are new tech. Potentially the wifi on my phone caused it as I forgot to turn it off!! No wonder my battery went fast as well. My bad. Could be why it's never happened before as well as I always have it off. Cheers guys.
  7. Cheers guys, Steve I'm not there, I'm up oundle way. However I'm fishing Grendon with a couple of mates next weekend. Wonder if it'll kick off then? I would conclude it's my phone charging but it does it when it isn't charging so can't be that. Maybe a cleaner air quality allows the signals from something to travel better and it's picking up my receiver I don't know. I'll change batteries and see if that makes a difference. Only ever time it has happened to me, although I normally keep it on local because I hate waking up for the little bleeps caused by wind, etc on bigger pits. More intimate places like this I've had to put it on high as a bleep is hard to come by!
  8. I've had the two little droopy noises to indicate interference on the radio channel but I've just had a load of static through and it scares the life out of me. This is all on local channel as well so clearly someone with a strong radio signal is nearby. Never happened on this lake before. Wondering if anyone has any tips to get it to shut up, apart from turning it off of course!! I can't have that static wake me up in the night. I'll have a heart attack!
  9. looks suspect to me. Either he is genuine and strapped for cash or its stolen.
  10. I managed to pick up a gardner deluxe boilie gun and rolling table for £3. never used either.
  11. I have one of these http://www.military1st.co.uk/10615021-mil-tec-ecwcs-jacket-with-fleece-flecktarn.html Cracking bit of kit, warm, waterproof, detachable fleece for when you only need the outer layer in the warmer months.
  12. I've just got my hand son the atomic chod wyre, very good line and strong too. Not too wirey and can be worked with.
  13. I use this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/500M-30LB-0-26mm-Dyneema-Fishing-Line-PE-Braided-Four-Strands-Various-Optional-/141322795741?var=&hash=item20e77ebadd:m:m6sDnW2_uRu8_mDfVosH0lw straight through with a large spomb tied directly on to the end. Only crack off i've had was when the swivel in the spomb snapped on me. No trouble with wind knots, bad frap or anything, I just splash my spool with water if im baiting up heavy or at long range.
  14. Give it a try mate. Soak the braid first for a day as its when it's properly wet the dye lifts.
  15. one thing I will warn you about is the dye running. I had my hands bright orange the first few uses, try to run the line through a towel the first few times! but a small price to pay for the lower priced, just as good braid
  16. I use this stuff, can go up a breaking strain if you want http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/500M-30LB-0-26mm-Dyneema-Fishing-Line-PE-Braided-Four-Strands-Various-Optional-/141322795741?var=&hash=item20e77ebadd:m:m6sDnW2_uRu8_mDfVosH0lw
  17. I managed to pick up one similar to this at a car boot sale the other weekend. £4 with all the nozzles and a 14mm rolling table. bargain. Making pop-ups will never be easier this winter
  18. if its for when you are fishing on wooden platforms then stage stands? Pods I would look at the new solar P1 or the cygnet pods
  19. The atomic one is like yonny says. It's good and I still use mine but the pouch is frayed and the Velcro part of the pouch ripped off, but then I prefer it without as I can get s tighter grouping.
  20. Will defo be watching out for reviews on these. If they are that good then I'll give them a try. Especially in barbless
  21. try and make sure you have a puncture proof tyre. I once had to walk a mile with a barrow full of kit with a flat tyre. Luckily I carried a pump with me for such occasions. took me three re-inflations to get back to the van!
  22. I use this stuff. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-500M-30LB-0-26mm-Fishing-Line-Strong-PE-Braided-4-Strands-Durable-B6X2-/231874404440?var=&hash=item35fccaa058:m:mgGiTNCpO-fXCm01cy1sLqQ Never had it snap on me. The dye does come out so be careful. I ended up with bright orange fingers!!
  23. I used to have a browning carp feeder rod, was very nice to play fish on, not sure if they still do them though.
  24. Have been using the HD this year. Very supple, a dream to cast and sinks well (even though I sit there cursing it as I switched from fluoro and its obviously slower than that). I'm using in 15lb and cant fault it. Spool it up properly (as gardner instructions) and it wont be coiled or twisted at all
  25. I've never gone near them, mostly heard bad reviews on kranks. I'll stick to my fox arma, nash fang and rig morale hunchbax. never had any of them open up or snap on me. Been hooked in to a sunken tree and snapped a rod before the hook did!
