  1. No mate....this was all included in normal contents policy for the house....cheque came through on thursday...in no rush to spend it just yet...cant get on the bank anyway...first day off in a long while and banktime is not high on my list ....not in this weather
  2. snap still have a spool, 7lb, ....still has its uses too eh mate....got 9lb and 11lb.....still got some bulk spools of 11lb sylcast sorrel mainline that I keep telling myself to spool up with
  3. Still have a few spools of black spider mate....it does get used occasionally
  4. very unlikely...once the pressure is off a fish stops running Its happened to me once in thirty years of carping so I wouldnt worry too much...unless you are fishing extremely heavily stocked waters
  5. I dont agree with any of it bar the hooklink length......a leader in heavy weed is nothing more than increasing the risk of tethering...and a lead that isnt on a clip is compounding that issue by providing an anchor in heavy weed.
  6. sink link is total gash!!! sorry mate but it is....it doesnt sink anywhere near how it should...and as for abrasion resistant...its just NOT....stuck with it for ages because I do try to stick with ESP gear but...nope....just doesnt perform IMO
  7. Suffix camfusion.....suffix herculine....both do what they say on the tin!!....herculine sinks like a stone...still supple...and really thin diameter...camfusion....just brilliant ....and even better for the fact I get them at four quid for 25mtrs ......instead of 12 quid
  8. Ian....pretty certain you can usually pick them up in the predator section in most tackle shops now mate....failing that will bring you a couple down to Barston. to make use of......best way I have found of presenting them, never failed me to be fair
  9. Used a syringe for about twenty years now to pop a bunch of worms up ......long hair ..about ten lobs..9 of which are halved..then threaded onto the needle and fed onto the hair..thread the full lobby onto the needle at each end and again in the middle..long hair stop..pull them tight on so they dont wriggle free....syringe air into the full lobs middle section
  10. Exactly the same Frank...so much easier if my hands are almost locked up....same for all rigs thesedays....a very welcome addition to my rig wallet .....and nope...never lost one on the cast either...as i said...I feel more confident of the bait staying on with this method over a longer period too as it cuts water ingress as you say.
  11. Nige...I hope you dont think I was rubbishing your way of doing things mate???...certainly wasnt......I have to keep fiddly rig work to a bare minimum due to arthritis in both hands...fingers dont do what they could a while back....so I have to make it easy for me to be able to tie up etc with this in mind .....the split shot is good.....used it for a while
  12. Happy to help mate....the elasticity also helps evade it being whipped by coots ...in fact it adds a spot of entertainment watching them get proper annoyed about it ....certainly not rubbishing anyone elses ideas etc...far from it...as you say..what better place to learn than here.....but as you say...I also like to 'keep it simple" Del
  13. God you fellas love to complicate things....readymade chod....one bait band....job done!! ....I dont use chods(ever)....but the issue is the same.....why add metal....braid and blah blah blah to a rig that is using a pop up????...one little rubber band...job done...no hassle...no fiddle...same result....in fact a neater result!...in fact i could go further and ask why you use a rig ring( extra metal)......done the same since 87 without any added metal...and to be fair...my bait blows back far more efficiently....all you older carpers...think back to before rings etc etc ...the original sliding hair.......overthought a touch thesedays perhaps??
  14. Was using crimps back in 07 and through 08.....suffered some break offs and steered clear since....i dont like adding metalwork when i dont need to.
  15. Definitely a bait band just looped onto the ring and pulled through Ian...if like me, your fingers are a bit knarled and knackered(given your work I can assume this is correct) this is a far easier option and is just as secure...more so in fact to my mind. Del ps. a gated needle is best obviously .......so there is no tearing the bands
  16. I use a three turn blood knot...or a five turn grinner on bristle filament and with slightly more supple filament such as "slink"...seems to work well for me
  17. most certainly would....and just enough space for some bread too
  18. I tailor make them on the bank....rig boards are just added clutter that I dont want to carry...one very small rig wallet in the top pocket of my quiver...covers EVERY eventuality possible
  19. who knows....who would believe it would put on 50lb in 10yrs
  20. Its always been a fair yoyo of a fish Theo. .....Nice to see DF cant cash in on it ...Aqua get the mention
  21. travisbickle

    chods

quite agree mate...I use my own variation on a hinged rig...with a little ....bounce shall we say
  22. travisbickle

    chods

same way Ive fished it since 86 when it was still called the silt rig....
  23. Not an angling book...its the diary kept by a man on his wild swimming adventure across the UK...but also...some really informative little spots on certain rivers etc etc ....a damn good read
  24. as a one off....."casting for gold".....part of "compass" by channel 4 back in very early 90s...Paul Boote and John Bailey up the northern reaches of the Ganges for Mahseer....absolutely got me hooked on that species...one target I will definately realise.......then anything else by Jeremy Wade...and passion for angling...obviously
