Makes sense Phil. You are right in that the aggresive in -turn is designed to help the hook flip as the link tightens. We are trying to "target" the bottom lip area,rather than the throat. Agree the gape is reduced but "the working gape" is now the distance between point and eye,which i bigger. Usually this pattern is fished with a no knot to braid , stripped braid or mono to keep the angle of pull as near to straight as possible to suit the long point.................hope this helps.

For the benefit of CYBORX and NEWMARKET we have decided to initiate a "hook recon service" This will envolve a monster energy girl visiting your swim and tending to all your piscatorial needs. Phil has every right to complain about braid slipping through the eye. Ideally we like to get those hooks back and send them to the manufacturer for comment. The first few hooks in a batch are often discarded as a run gets under way,but these should be picked up during inspection,and double checked during packing(in England).Open eyes is a problem we've not had before. Bottom line is we are here if you have a problem, and will sort it out. cheers all. richard

Don't use muggas anymore,3 hooks where the braid has slipped through a gap in the eye Could you send them in to us Phil so we can have a look at the eye problem. We will replace and refund postage on anything faulty. Thank you Richard.

I am still lurking around and catching a few off the top. This is the hook you want guys,nice wide gape,heavy enough to cast 100yds without a lead with a couple of grains of hemp superglued to the shank. Or perfect for floaters when using half a loaf for bouyancy.

Hi Nick. If its the stuff i sent you to try out you must have had it on your spools for a couple of years now--glad its working out OK,and you,ve had some good fish from snaggy areas. On the abrasion machine it goes higher than the line you were using so not so surprised its lasting and coping with roots and bars. Lewis had a 30lb common and 41lb 6oz mirror at the weekend on the light blend that he has not changed from last season. We are very pleased with the feedback and its still £9.99 a spool. all the best RG.

Thanks for the comments Gentlemen,and I appreciate the chance to contribute to threads like this I dont know Nick personally,but I asked for his opinion on Pro-Carp because he seems to know what he's talking about regarding Carp gear,and has used a popular economical line for years.He ties a good knot and I hope He likes the line after a thorough testing. Pro-Carp and Gt80+ are based on a copolymer,which we have used for many years with some slight adjustments to help sink rate ,but not at the expense of casting performance. Lewis Read deserves a mention for developing these lines,and I confirmed his results with knot and abrasion tests. We are both responsible for any complaints---That keeps us on our toes.

GT 80 has had a good following since its introduction in 2003.Sorry you didn't like it because we found it bullet proof. Its not in many shops at the moment because we're replacing it with GT80+ which has slightly better knot strength and abrasion resistance. Original GR60 should be available for another 2 years possibly longer if demand continues. Pro-Carp was introduced this year in an effort to provide a good reliable line for less than ten quid--check the knot strength against any .35 line,and the abrasion resistance is right up there. Hi KN,and you,hope you are well and still catching. Hi Nige. That should work,25 lb BS should easily compensate for any loss in knot strength with the perfectin loop. I just tested some .35 dia line that goes over 18lb in the tackle box tests.it went at 17 with a figure 8 but i could not get it over 13 with the "perfection"---Its a very neat loop and can be used with confidence so long as you up the BS as you have done.Cheers Richard.

Hi All. Although the perfection loop provides a really nice result,please be aware that it reduces the line BS by around 30% on mono and FCarbon. No problem if you step up the dia of the hook link. Fig 8 or rapala knot much better at approx 10% loss of BS.
