I think i worked out you could get something like 30 odd mixes with the Salmon Oil, 33 mixes with the Caviar UTCS, so some of the products are expensive but should last a while, You get what you pay for, simple as that

I worked out, for those ingredients, plus a 1.5 kg bag of base mix it would be over £70, you would need to roll a lot to save any money.

It's a great book but now out of print and very expensive second hand. I recommend that you pop down to your local library and get them to order it in for you. You may have to wait a while but at least you get to read it for free! I sold mine on fleabay for £82 about a year ago, wish i hadn't

ABS, i have been pitching the Plan B and the Genesis against each other, there's not a lot of difference, but the Plan B seems to be edging its way forward.

Rule number one, just because they are fresh out of the packet, it doesn't mean the hooks are sticky sharp, so try to make sure that ever rig you cast in has a sticky sharp hook. To be honest it is speculated that barbless hooks, do come in and out of a fishes mouth multiple times throughout the fight, and a lot of anglers would advocate the use of barbed but if that is banned on your water, try setting your rigs so you dump the lead, so your in direct contact with the fish and not the lead and fish. A wider gape hook naturally has a bit more room for fixing into a fishes mouth, you could also try a curve shank hook, once in its hard for the fish to get rid of as it has to curve to come out.

All of my rods and reels match, i suppose in an ideal world you would have all different test curves to suit every situation. All of my rods are 3.25 tc, to be honest i don't have the luxury of affording different rods, plus one week i could be fishing a small water the next i might venture onto a big pit, you never know what life is going to throw your way, so i bought the largest test curve i could afford at the time to cover long range fishing should i ever come across a large water. I know a lot have speculated over why would you have three sets of snag bars on my buzzers, what's the point of having the bars on the middle rods. People talking idea kit for and ideal situation, you know what, i enjoy having my rods, reels, snag bars, and everything else matching, i have worked hard to buy the gear i like so why shouldn't i have what i like and not something that other people would prefer to have. That's their choice not mine. I still use a pod, some say using bank sticks and pointing your rods to where your fishing is the only way forward, i happen to like the way a pod keeps everything together neat and tidy in the swim. I am one of those anglers who like's everything neat and tidy, i even level the buzz bars, not because i need to but because i like it, i have camo netting over my bivvy, again not because i need to but because i like it. I earn the money so i am going to spend it on what i like not on the ideals of others. Sorry what started off on a simple reply has ended up in me having a little bit of a rant lol, sorry fella, this is in no way aimed at you, lol in answer to your question buy the hell what you want, if you think you may only ever fish small waters then buy smaller test curve rods, if you feel happy with having different test curve rods, do it, the only person it is going to have an affect on is you at the end of the day, buy what you like and most of all enjoy your time on the bank.

Personally i don't like long shanks, the mugga's and esp curve shank are both good strong hooks, which i use in pva bags all of the time. And ill go out on a limb and say i don't think KD rigs are as good as made out, just a simple 7 turn knotless knot on both of those patterns.

Carpbell i have never fished any of those, but i thought i would comment as your feeling a bit lonely on the forum, hot weather, a lot of people are either fishing or making the most of the weather mate, someone will be along soon, im sure

Have a look at Rushes Lake, their on FB a lot, and you can speak with Kim on here i know a few lads on here have been more than once.

Normally i would agree but some of their latest cheaper reel are poo, in fact you would be better going for the old daiwa reels, emblems, that sort of age.

The only thing i would say, even though you are fishing small waters now, what happens if you ever do fancy fishing something bigger. If you get the 9 footers now you may be buying some 12 footers in the future, you never know where life is going to take you.

I must admit non of the knots i have used have ever slipped.

5 turn grinner for swivels, go twice through the swivel, but i use a simple double loop knot, as i like to change my hooklinks on a regular basis.
