  1. You'll make the switch from baitrunners really quickly....maybe have the odd strike without tightening the clutch, but I find that's usually after a couple of beers. I've been using the Wychwood Riot 65's and they're good for the money.
  2. My 1994 Delks are still going strong, so their build quality (at least in 1994) is unquestionable.
  3. Popped into Gladwells and Birds yesterday and bought a few bits in each shop. Thanks for the recommendations.
  4. I wouldn't be wearing chest waders unless you're in the water, most of them...including the breathable ones will make you sweat buckets.
  5. Thanks guys, that's given me some places to go checkout. Much appreciated.
  6. Not sure if this is the correct forum. I'm visiting the UK soon and will be staying in Suffolk, staying near the coast in Saxmundham. Can someone please recommend some tackleshops, I've got a list of things I'm going to pick up and I'm considering buying some new rods whilst over there, so would prefer a shop with a good range of rods. Cheers
  7. I use big pit reels, 2.75lb 12ft rods, 12lb mono line without a leader, fishing lakes anywhere between 5 and 15 acres. Range....not nearly enough, but probably 90yrds max (with a stringer or small pva mesh). I also fish the margins, typically with a 2.5lb rod, 6010 Baitrunner and 8 or 10lb mono line (can't remember).
  8. Hi Stokecarper12, do you think it's pics and information you've posted on here that has led to your spots being hammered or are you posting elsewhere too? Big congratulations on the PB!
  9. Well whilst fishing last night, four young men set up near me for a bit of carp bashing. a friend of mine wandered over to them and asked why they kill carp.... "well they're ruin the environment, they muddy up the water" but this lake is pretty clear. "they kill other fish" but there's plenty of roach, perch and trout in here and carp aren't predatory. "they spread disease". All the standard answers. They left at about midnight and I checked out their swim in the morning, fag buts everywhere, ring pulls, bread tags and some plastic packaging from their cigarettes.... All with a bin just 25ft away. I know who's really damaging the environment!
  10. I used to fish it in the Mid to late 90's, was a good lake back then.
  11. They seem to believe that the killing of 95% of carp will bring their waterways back to a pristine condition, ignoring the fact that most of the damage is done by humans. Remove the industrial pollution, urban and farming run off, bank erosion from cattle and ski boats, habitat removal, redirection of waterways and reduction of natural flows and then you can blame the carp.
  12. We need to find that man and lock him up.
  13. None and nope. Can't buy any boilies in tackle shops out here. There are a few ex pats that roll and sell. I only know of one tackle shop in Oz that sells some gear and that's just a small range of gardner end tackle.
