  1. Marsh runs the place bud what he dont know about orchid you could write on a stamp lol
  2. I wouldnt not go because of the thefts at linear, everyone will be on high alert as it wasnt that long ago, but its always going to be a risk. Bluebell or Linear?? Neither!! Id go stanwick lakes, Elsons. 7 Days on there would be awesome, its fairly quiet in the week too with some really nice fish in it up to 39lb now i believe, weeds not to bad down there at the mo too. Have fun where ever you choose and hope you get some.
  3. No worries Arl,, and yea marsh and the other baliffs are the best source of info, one or the other is at the lake 24/7
  4. As Kenook said,, start of with a little bit, see what goes on and put more in if they are having it,, see if the site has a range of boilies there, as more than likely thats what the fish are used too,,i normally try and work it by the day so maybe 2 kilos a day then if they are on it you could always bulk it out with some particles again most places do there own which are generally well priced and fresh! If you get the lake to yourself then right result! you can always bait a few spots around the lake and visit them throughout the days you there,, sounds like your gonna have a good time either way so tight lines!
  5. No mate,, got there mid-day ish, saw fish on the margins of the island so took my time, sneaked some bait over on to margin shelf, inbetween gulls,,coots,,grebes,,swans and just about everything else that could eat boilies lol, then again took time to get my rigs in the exact places i wanted them, as tight to the bushes as poss,, then left early next morning. I saw them cruising the surface first thing in the morning and if i was staying i would of gone to the Zig.
  6. Just got back from an overnighter,, loads of fish showing,, a few upper 20's and a 30 out, from chris's bar,,off the gravel bar about 30 yards outish. I fished Boards,, got liners but no pick ups,,If i was still down there i would be on the Zigs as rodarrichy said.
  7. Im down there tommorow for a few nights for my birthday treat, im gonna try 15m bottom baits with small mesh bags of stick mix,, single freebies scattered all over to get em grubbing about the first night then fish the same spots with pop-ups the second night if i get no joy,, its weedy right now and fishing the clear spots seems to have done the business for a guy last time i was there,, very close in too, about 20 yards out. From the bit of experience ive had down there, they havent responded to heavily baited areas, hence my approach this time round. It really depends on the peg you get tbh,, if you fish off the powellys bank id suggest getting out over the weed on the back of the gravel bar that runs along there, that produced for me last time, im aiming to get on the middles/new middles/boards area this time. This is just my expereince so far there,, hope ive been of some help.
  8. As he said lol,, loads of different views on this but in my rig box youll find O'rings,,Oval rings,,Clear/Green shrink tube,, Stiff hooklink material,, various coated braids and about 4 different hook patterns makes are Korda, Gardener and Fox.
  9. I use a Korda choddy on my stiff rig,, only just started using them to be fair but had a few fish and no problems as yet
  10. LOL the windermere monster! Nah pretty sure they were carpin' i checked the guys kit as i was walking past and they had boilies and carp rig bits,, ive read about since posting,, aparently there are some carp in there to mid 20's but very few, they got monster pike in there though just wondered if anyone on here knew owt!
  11. Hi folks,, just come back south from a mini break up to windermere,, much to my suprise i saw 3 blokes carp fishing now thats some serious stretch of water to tackle!! just wondered if anyone knew anything about any carp being caught from there?
  12. The safety down there is definatly great, you can relax thats for sure. Glad to hear hes got on top of the weed a bit down there too,, awesome venue tbh, i will be getting back down there when i can fit it in.
  13. Smashing first post me old china,,took you some time as i see you joined 2004!!,,, welcome to the forum whats puzzling you so??
  14. I had an experience a while back... Ok so me and me good bud planned our first ever france trip and there is no shortage of venues to go at once we started looking, we found a gorgeous looking lake namely Valley lake in france which is advertised right here on carp.com. Full of excitement we left and drove all the way there with all sorts of expectations.. without going into all the gory details it turned into the worst fishing trip ive ever had in my life and id say 75% of it was down to the fishery owner at the time, i got the impression he was quite new to the game to be honest i dont really know though. I wanted at the time to make sure nobody i ever knew had that experience so would of told anyone not to go there. Ive since met many people that have fished there,, read many posts from people that have been there and never read a bad thing about it which means the chap must of got his act together and all is well as they all said it was fantastic. Moral of that story: Always exercise benefit of the doubt! everyone has bad days! so my point to all this is this,, yes i do believe its fair for people to air their concerns and views about individual lakes as long as its based on personal experience and like you say balanced and fair thats what free speech is all about, and for someone to slate you for doing that i think is unfair. fingers hurt now,, CC
  15. Pm me a number mate, i got bowzas now so can get it all arranged
  16. Yea i can do probably do thursday, pm your number i will give you a text
  17. nice one, i think i know exactly where that is, its looks proper nice. Will have to sort a little look round me thinks
  18. Could you be a bit more specific where that is bud,, i go MK quite allot with my work so could easily take a peek
  19. let us know how you get on with it,, im working till 9 for the next 7 days so thats me out,, will be interesting to see how they react to that though
  20. Give me a shout bowza if you go,, id have a bash there if i can get the time,, work always seems to get in the way
  21. Haha! i know what your thinking!! was thinking the same after the ban
  22. I fished Powellys swim,, found the gravel about 60 yards out past the weedbank, pulled back tightish to it and caught,, was using small sticks full of boilie crumb and a few chops with chops on the hair,,, mates in the next 2 swims to my right and they were spodding large patches of bait and putting their rods on them and they had nothing, not saying its not the way to go but at that time it wasnt working and it seemed they were shying away from large patches, i know another guy thats done well spodding on there so its just a case of suck it and see,,, i would try the little sticks and single baits to start, you can always add to it if your getting fish,,, hope some of that helps CC
  23. Well yea thats the obvious what i should of said was why are they allowed to sell it, thats if it hasnt been properlly tested or re-tested after all whats being said about it from various partys. I think the threads kind of deviating from the original post now too lol
  24. Personally i dont use lead core,, i like anchor tubing, pain in the backside to thread sometimes but does what i need it to do. What gets me about all the leadcore is good and leadcore is bad thing is this, if its that bad wether its tied properlly or not then why on earth do they sell it???? I mean surely someone out there needs to properly test this stuff for the fish's benefit if nothing else?!?! Like i said im sitting on the fence as to wether its good or bad because i know many anglers that will use it and many that wont and all of which i feel "know" what they are doing. RE the original post, take a gander around the site for various ideas on correctly tied rigs theres chods,, pop ups, etc etc im sure you will find a nice suitable one for you.
