Just to let you know Tim has contacted me and he is going to post the stick to me so hopefully sorted now till I can get some chubb bars. Just wanted to say a big thank you to you both for all your help and advice. Simon, I should have had a look on here before rummaging in the garage! I can't find mine so it's just as well that Tim is sorting you out. It's good to see that the forum is maintaining it's reputation for being a friendly place. Tim, you're a star! I've read your post ..... Hookholds on bottom lip is good but not essential ..,, How many times have you played a carp heart in mouth only to find that it's well and truly hooked and was never coming out On the flip side the best fish I've had this year was a belting fight but lightly hooked Now you've said that you've lost a few at the net lately ... Is that a new thing ? It may be that your on a bad run If its worked for you before it will do again ... I think we're all guilty of dropping a few and the way you fight fish shouldn't come into it .... I think we all have our own style of fighting fish and no matter how much we try and change it in the heat of battle we all revert to how we deal with things .... Keep at it hook pulls no matter how heartbreaking happen I did a lot on commercials over the years and learnt to watch the rod when fighting fish on barbless ..... If there's a healthy bend in your rod it shouldn't matter how much of a hole there is in the hook hold ....

You could go up north for 4 seasons near Blackpool or Pendle View ?? Cudmore is also on your radar and all these places are within an hr of where you are I fished Home Farm about 6 years ago .... Had a stockie but it's a pretty place with some nice fish in it .... But I found it pricey and a bit small .... The big cats wernt there when I fished it ....

Oh dear ..... It seems a few of you have been quite upset about matts comments ..... It's not a clicky forum .... Never has been since I've been a member .... I can see people's point how matt has come over but..... A simple introduction and background and getting to know a few members is what he was on about I think ?? I've fished with matt and my only prob with him was that he also drank Guinness which ment less for me Now I think all this prob started when matt asked for more info from a member before giving away syndicate details .... And I agree with him .... Lets say I'm johnny asbo and I'm after sum quality fishing gear to rob to make a few $$$$ so I come on a forum and ask hiya I'm lookin for a quiet water/syndicate that's got big fish but isn't so busy .... We all reply and tell him the puddle at the end of the lane is dead quiet only a few anglers on at any one time with the chance of a good fish ( hence good kit) So me and my 2 lager lout mates do a night trip have you off and move on to the next victim.... Now I'm not suggesting that is the case with this member but ...... It's always a possibility ... I've seen matt help people on this forum before and it looks like there's a bit of a witch hunt going on here .... And that's not what the forum is all about .... Welcome to the forum Niall

Still fish the lift method for tench ..... And I've still got a few quills in me shed .... And I seem to catch more carp than tench doing that Can't beat getting dragged around the lake on the match rod

Cromwell lakes Newark ..... Not the easiest nut to crack but the rewards are there to be had ..... Also take a look at Millbrook it's due to reopen soon and both venues hold big fish and are only an hr or so away from you

Got a staffy and 6 goldfish ..... It's coming up to a year since I lost my other staff ...... Bad times Chickens are a definite maybe for next year down the allotment

Cudmore was one of the 1 st commercials around and has got a lot of pools that cover most angling situations ..... But for most members on here it's not there cup of tea ..... I've fished cudmore on and off for 15 years but not as much the last 3 years or so ...... If your after a day of bagging fish between 4/8 lb then it's a good place for that ..... It's not too hard and there's plenty of waters to tackle .... It's up to you Pete what you want out of your days fishing I went once for 24hrs last year and had 13 fish biggest a 15lb common .... But I tend not to go as many commercials as what I use to It can get very busy at weekends in summertime

I've watched the Korda videos and I don't doubt we get done quiet a bit ..... But just how many times I wound in my maggot rig today after 6 hrs of inactivity found a carp in the margins lowered it in and watched the fish take the rig and hook itself .... So am I missing something because I never got done once it hooked 1st time ????

I use the kd for my snowman set ups and its allways done ok for me and there normally well hooked in the bottom lip Tied some up a few years ago and stuck with them ..... Don't know how much different they are to KK but it's done ok so I still use it

Correct me if I'm wrong Neil but didnt you say you was hoping to go France with your mate ( I won't name drop ) And would I be right in thinking that in his 1st 24hrs he's had 11 fish so far topped by a 51lb common But hey if you'd of gone we would never of had the mods thread !!!!
