  1. My brother had one. Very fun car. You'll feel sick when you see what they go for now mate. Proper classic.
  2. All true, but as you say they'll work right as rain without any servicing whatsoever for 20 years. All part of the charm. It's the same with the Emblems and the Infinities imo. Noisy, clunky, loose, heavy, but completely indestructible. This is where the smart money goes for anyone that actually wants to use them every day imo. I use a set for my most of my fishing. My SS3's haven't seen the bank in a while now, they're safe and sound in their original boxes. When COVID hit the 2nd hand prices soared. Even the spools are going for 100 quid. I think I have 12 originals and another 3 Westons. It's starting to look like my retirement fund lol.
  3. SS3000's buddy. I have a set. The one in the photo has a black Weston spool on (the standard one is silver).
  4. Yes. Lots. Don't get me wrong, I'll still go frozen every time, but there are defo decent shelfy food baits out there.
  5. Are you local to the area @Jone5y?
  6. I completely agree Nick. Obviously a bright smelly single will always have a chance of getting picked up but real genuine quality bait is so widely available/used nowadays that attractor/shelfies cannot compete imo.
  7. Agree. The website says they all use the same base mix, just different flavours added. Regardless of how effective you believe flavours to be, this raises serious questions about the thought process/development behind the bait. The fact that said base mix can be used to carry everything from sugar sweet (Coconut – Maple) to seriously savoury (Spicy Krill – Garlic) tells us straight away that the claimed base mix ingredients (birdfoods/milks/fishmeals) must be in such low qtys that they're easily covered by a few ml of flavour/sweetener. This suggest that the bulk of the base mix is your fillers (semo/soya/cereals etc). The saying 'too good to be true' springs to mind on this one.
  8. You raise a good point. I suppose it depends on what else you have going on in your life. I agree that time spent watching TV is worth nothing, you're better off rolling bait. But what about family time or actual fishing time? They're worth more (to me) than what any job could pay me to do. I'd love to have the spare/TV time to make it costs effective but I just don'tπŸ˜”
  9. You can't get sued buddy. They literally got busted. The court case only came to an end when the guilty parties agreed to pay all costs and todays board wrestled back full control of the Society. Unpaid. It is top heavy but this is to prevent what happened from happening again. Look at the names, you'll not find more trustworthy guys in all of carp fishing. I'm not a member and never have been but for me, 25 quid to get the chance to fish those waters alone is a bargain.
  10. If Skeff was prepared to sell to someone that would do that, the fishery would have been offered for sale on the open market imo. Sell to the highest bidder innit. The fact the deal has been done so quietly says to me that Skeff had a buyer in mind to adopt his baby from the start. I'd expect them to run it exactly as it is now, but with Society membership a requirement. They're not so stupid as to purchase the place then destroy everything that makes it special imo. Give them a chance mate! Same mate, just one of those things I've never got round to.
  11. It would actually stretch more (with the bigger diameter there's more material to stretch). Although stretch is not a problem for this stuff it seems. Mate if it aint broke, don't fix it. πŸ‘
  12. Liquid liver is hydrolised to break down the proteins into amino acids that can be rapidly absorbed (unlike intact proteins). Liver paste is no substitute I'm afraid.
  13. Everyone that I've recommended HydroTuff to loves it. It's quite unique as it has all of the benefits of a snag line (crazy good abrasion resistance and superb strength) but 'feels' like a low stretch or pre-stretched line. The responsiveness is as good as any mono I've used. It even casts ok in the lower diameters. The colour is great..... it's just a brilliant, brilliant line.
  14. We're all good buddy. The boy is very excited, we all areπŸ˜ƒ
  15. It was brilliant 20 years ago buddy but not even in the same ball park as HydroTuff. The Gardner stuff does everything the Trilene does but it casts better, is more responsive (lower stretch/better drop), behaves better....... just better in every way imho.
  16. They are two of the very best right there imo, don't underestimate them Elmo.
  17. I'd wait until March then hammer them when they come into the margins as the weather warms upπŸ‘ Pre-bait with corn, hemp and boilies. The corn/hemp is just there to get them on the boilies so as soon as the boiled baits are being taken ditch the corn/hemp. Don't go crazy with the bait though, I find it's MUCH harder to get them feeding on big beds in the margins. Just a few handfuls will do. If no-one fishes the place you should be able to most of them pretty quickly. Might pay to have a couple of spots on the go as margin spots do tend to blow pretty soon after a fish or 3.......

    Otters

Very unlikely imo. They rarely last a couple of nights on the bank. Foxes and rats will have those bones cleaned up in no time.
  19. Floss for me. I pierce and blob standard pop ups. I even pierce cork balls (v carefully) but I'll tie a boilie stop on for these.
  20. Bang in the middle @ 4ft with one on a a bright pop up and the others on zigs @ 2 and 3 ft. Near the sunken jettys. Eyes peeled as they'll almost certainly be shoaled up somewhere. If you spot one get all the rods in that area. Good luck buddy.
  21. In terms of hooking potential I probably agree but due to the potential for tangles I can't bring myself to use supply braid. Ultimately we'll be most successful in what we're confident using so just choose any rig you like and make sure you use it wellπŸ˜ƒ
