  1. I have been wracking my brains all afternoon to try to remember the name of this place.. I remember reading a bit about this place.
  2. I like that lake, some lovely fish in there, a couple of stunning koi worth catching. My only advice would be fish maize or sweetcorn, carp dont seem to have any interest in boilies what so ever. Wrong time of year now, however i had great success catching carp off the top using the fury buds that were falling off the trees, the carp were sucking them up like nobodys business. let me know how you got on, need to nip down myself again soon, ben a while..
  3. is this the day ticket one where you have to phone up to get on?
  4. and does work quite well, have done it once or twice bankside myself..
  5. In short Fluorocarbon has very similar refractive properties to water this making it near invisible.
  6. Hi all Just to clarify, I phoned customs and you CAN take luncheon meat over the border to France. I asked about maggots and he said to ring the French Embassy and ask them. I havent rang them yet.
  7. no sorry i have only come across it when browsing the web. When you posted i just thought i know that name and googled it. sorry
  8. depends what you mean by know about as thats all i do...... http://www.ecton.t83.net/
  9. What distances are you fishing?
  10. I heard they did a garlic one out there, will keep my eyes peeled. I was thinking of using it for the cats and carp so I was planning on taking 10+ cans. If i can definatley get it out there ill prob take a few cans with me and buy the rest there. I'll have a quick flick through a customs website to see if i can find a definate answer.
  11. Can you take luncheon meat over the border with you? and one assumes that there is no problem taking meat/fish based boilies, halibut pellets? Just thought id check before i have to dump £x worth of bait at the ferry port. thanks

    Hooklink

in theory your hooklink should be the first to break as it is a lower BS than your mainline. This results in the fish trailing round a matter of inches of line rather than alot more, saving the fish a lot of distress.
  13. i seem to recall Nick posting a chart of various lines on the market and their advertised BS and their actual BS. cant find it though....
  14. I cant offer any advice on the fishing, i was there the other week, stopped for lunch on the way up to Scotland, brought many memories flooding back. I did notice a couple of boats out on the lake but they were both fly fishing, im sure pike fishing goes on there but probably seasonal. If rules allow you could float or ledger i guess. There is a couple of members that live and fish up that way, who may see this and offer some advice.
  15. looks nice, worth a drive and look. if its no good you can look at the castle..
  16. Found THIS from the search. Doesnt offer much im afraid. May lead to some contact details though so you could always give them a call.. Edit** i was intrigued so i had a look myself, I assume you have been on the WEBSITE but there it is anyway.
  17. Never fish it on its own, always tipped. Im unsure if i have caught with it on its own, i have banked fish with only the fake corn left on but i put that down to the meat falling off during the playing of the fish. I usually use some maize as groundbait if im fishing with a tipped bait. As for 140yrds, well i wouldnt know.
  18. I believe the trent holds some nice fish, never had one myself. I know you said lake but i can never turn a blind eye to a river.
  19. Would it make any difference fishing slack lines?
  20. club or syndicate...
  21. Does your fountain of knowledge never end?
  22. Good point Jake, Can you please explain why you would change them, as I read it all the time but no one ever gives details as to why? For different situation, ive all ready said that, the type of lakebed im fishing,if the fish are being fussy with the rig, missed runs etc I think noknot ment, What do you do if you are fishing over a specific lakebed, or missing runs or experienceing wary fish..? Lengthen/Shorten? Why would you shorten it? Why would you lengthen it.? edit* as noknot has a name and not called he...
  23. All i have heard is bad things tbh, from this forum and friends.. I have never fished it so cant offer anyhting there and probably never will. sorry
  24. can of sweetcorn is 31p at my local somerfield 2-3 of those a week is what i am planning. Maize would be the cheaper option (if you can cook it at home that is), keep meaning to get a sack. I think just spending some time down there is your best bet, it does get busy in the warmer months so you might want to walk/cycle a little further afield. I have had carp out to around 9-10lb albeit 8years ago. Happy hunting
