  1. I don't think there is one, unless someone knows something I dont?. Ask yourself what you will be fishing over, Silt, gravel, detritus, sand, weed. Will you be using bottom baits or pop ups. I'd stick with the simple knotless knot and go from there. Take a look through The rig tying stickies to familiarise yourself with a rig or two.
  2. been meaning to pick a copy up for a while now. Read nothing but good reviews. Must try harder..
  3. a piece of plastic has caught fish in the shape of fake corn Ive heard of matchmen using crisps.
  4. If your bait is buoyant enough to lift the hook and hooklink, Fluoro may work, but in long lengths how do you test it out? you could get round the long hooklink by testing its bouyant enough in 4-5 foots lengths and then use a float and adjustable zig.
  5. I just use my mainline, krystonite. I use it in 10lb for the zigs, always seemed fine for me.
  6. As always guys some lovely fish, well done on lake record common.
  7. Depending on what length your after, I tie a 4-5ft hooklength as normal then use a fox bolt bubble (or any similar float) and then your lead weight. This way you can use it at different levels in the water without retying a rig. Also it helps when fishing a 10ft+ zig as its easier to cast and play/land fish. i was bored so i drew a nice picture
  8. never tried it myself, however, someone has as I caught a carp with rig, tubing with putty and 20-30 foot of line trailing from it.
  9. All I can remember is his fizzy tablet sandwiched on the hair between two halves of boilie.
  10. and does work quite well, have done it once or twice bankside myself..
  11. In short Fluorocarbon has very similar refractive properties to water this making it near invisible.
  12. What distances are you fishing?

    Hooklink

in theory your hooklink should be the first to break as it is a lower BS than your mainline. This results in the fish trailing round a matter of inches of line rather than alot more, saving the fish a lot of distress.
  14. i seem to recall Nick posting a chart of various lines on the market and their advertised BS and their actual BS. cant find it though....
  15. Never fish it on its own, always tipped. Im unsure if i have caught with it on its own, i have banked fish with only the fake corn left on but i put that down to the meat falling off during the playing of the fish. I usually use some maize as groundbait if im fishing with a tipped bait. As for 140yrds, well i wouldnt know.
  16. Would it make any difference fishing slack lines?
  17. Good point Jake, Can you please explain why you would change them, as I read it all the time but no one ever gives details as to why? For different situation, ive all ready said that, the type of lakebed im fishing,if the fish are being fussy with the rig, missed runs etc I think noknot ment, What do you do if you are fishing over a specific lakebed, or missing runs or experienceing wary fish..? Lengthen/Shorten? Why would you shorten it? Why would you lengthen it.? edit* as noknot has a name and not called he...
  18. try now.. **edit altohugh on further inspection thy dont sell it just a product price guide i think. sorry..
  19. PM Sent
  20. they do as i tested them before i took some, only the dumbell ones were pva though.
  21. He may be being serious, I know i got my nuggets from some packaging at work..
  22. Yes but you are catching fish on the Mantis arent you, so what is the problem? he could be catching more fish with the korda not necessarly less fish, you dont know until you try. I guess its like trying new flavours/baits you wont know if it works on your lake until you try. not that im a korda rep.. **edit** looking at some more posts, looks as though a few have had breakages so it might not be worth the trial...
