Hello all, What are your thoughts or experience of patrol routes and how they differ with changing temps/weather, not necessarily summer/winter more one day to the next. An example, do carp enter a bay area the same way on a hot day when they are in the upper layers, as opposed to a cooler, drizzly day. Cheers, Bob

It's something I wanted to do for years, but never actually got round to it. I liked the idea of producing a food source bait and catching on it. My fishing, for the next few years, is changing from carp to trout and pike. The only bait to worry about will be deer hair or pheasant feather. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You're assuming you're getting paid for not rolling, unless you can work the extra hours then it doesn't add up. If you can't fit two hours in to knock up 5kg, then buy. However, if you have the time, and want to make your own, then surely cost per hour doesn't matter. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Chameleon gets my vote, used it for 15 years or so on my lighter gear. GR60 graces my carp reels currently, no complaints on that either. Although I am looking to eek some extra yards on the cast so my drop to something more suited.

They look awful. Probably a ridiculous price to.

Hi The way I read it, are you confusing dropping the lead with using a back lead? Many people tie there lead on or trim their clip down so any force or pressure the lead will drop off. I haven't read, but that doesnt mean you can't, of people dropping the back lead on the take, not sure how you would do that.

I switched to the GR60 this year and love it, yes its a little thick but I like the way it feels and the best sinking line, bar flouro, i've used. Not due for a change just yet, but its nice to know the 60 will be around for a bit yet if I stick with it. at 9.99 though i'll be keeping ann eye on this review.

I think Nick is right, that rig will catch fish. Used it for years myself, I only changed to a combi as I wanted that stiff boom. Now I fish combi rigs on 2 rods and a chod on the 3rd, the chod is the one that gets cast to showing fish. The stiff boom may work against you in some silty conditions though.

Been using Merlin for about a year, I like it, no complaints from me. Usually a spool will last me a year or two so don't mind paying an extra few quid if i'm happy with something.

Hello and welcome to the forums 1. Yes as long as its fairly stiff and holds a curved shape well. 2. Hair will work, but tying gives a better presentation. Why dont you tie a few boilies up beforehand and then all you have to do is tie it to the ring. Saves farting around at 2am with cold wet hands. 3. See 2. Have fun p.s. I got some bore rings free with a mag, whilst I won't use them they take the hassle out of tying on a bait. They are basically a ring with a spike on so you can just spike the bait.

Hi Can't fault Raptors used them a fair bit for popups etc, really rate the armapoint though currently use a couple of patterns for all my fishing. Have to agree on the over the top packaging, at least it stops them being bashed about in a flimsy wallet.
