  1. Got your wires crossed, I had a mirror of 20lb 3oz and my partner had a mirror of 21lb 11oz, my partner also lost a fish which might have got us into 3rd but that's fishing.. The winning pair had 4 fish for 78lb something..
  2. Gents Pine Pool is very much Alive and Kicking. Just got back from our RAF event and did 48hrs on there.. I had 10 Carp for 188lbs 8oz and came second, the winning weight was an astounding 275lbs for 16 fish. Over 50 Carp was caught, and the average weight was approx 19lbs The biggest I had was a immaculate common of 28lbs, photos to follow in a few days. And I had three clonking bream while I was there, best was 12lbs 7oz, again photo's to follow.. Roll on the BCAC, event up there, can't wait to fish it. Lee Fox RAF Carp Team
  3. There is no noddy questions, just the ones that don't get asked. Tubing often gets used when there is a ban on leaders and/or leadcore. Tubing can be used to camouflage the rig and it does help avoid line rubbing against the skin and lifting scales. The tubing can be weighted, like Rig Marole Free Fall, or a tungsten tube. The main reason for any type of leader is to help avoid tangles. As for length, I generally use approx 2ft, but you could use less/more in the right circumstances (ie to protect the line from sharp gravel, mussels etc) But as mentioned above it need to be long enough to stop the hooklink wraping around the mainline.
  4. Have a look at Rig Marole H2O flurocarbon work very well, sinks well and if it is kinked then just some straight pressure will pull it straight again..
  5. I for one are fishing there for the BCAC event, and fishing a RAF Event on there from Monday 26th April for 48hrs, pop along as see us. Lee Sustins FOX RAF Carp Team
  6. I just don't like Carp Puddles, I like lakes and reservoirs that are in excess of 25 acres, so you are having to use you skills to find them and then get them out. I don't want to knock any fisheries, but like most commercial fisheries, the natural food source wouldn't sustain the size of the fish in there, if it wasn't for the anglers bait and topped up with additional feed. What did you have from there by the way....
  7. Done a fair bit on the Nene, the embankment can be good but also along the north bank out towards the dog and doublet pub / sluice gate. As for spots, in town on the far bank, near any boats and overhanging trees/bushes will be a good start. Prebaiting works very well and lots of patience. Size wise i never have had a carp smaller than 20lbs, and the biggest was last year at 33lbs. There is a fish ladder at the sluice and a rumour was that a large carp 40+ went pass the webcam that is in the ladder, so there are a few lumps floating around, but you do need to look and use watercraft. This is the only time i use a baitboat as the boat owners will get a bit cheesed off if you put a 4oz lead through there boat. Talking of boats a backlead is a must to pin the line down to the bottom. Hope that helps, might get down there myself at the start of the season...
  8. Loop to Loop, this enables to change the leader quickly if damaged and is a very good knot, the line always breaks first not the knot..
  9. One that springs to mind is Catch22 in Norfolk, has two log cabins on site, not near the water but well sorted with eveyrthing you need..
  10. My thoughts are don't bother, not my sort of venue... You would do better trying elsewhere..
  11. Check this thread out: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=40261&highlight=hayes which has also got a link to the ticket master website. Plus use the search facility on here, works a treat....
  12. Strictly private as far as I know at the moment.. If I hear anything on the carpy grapeline I will update this thread...
  13. Go one easier, instead of using separate materials, tie the hooklink as normal knotless knot or whipping knot and then apply superglue to the knot and hair, works very well especially if the knotless knot is tied KD fashion...
  14. Where would you like to go in the country???
  15. Yes and Yes, well worth joining and giving it ago... Once you join get yourself a copy of Horseshoe Dreams that explains all about the swims and tactics... And this also includes a detailed map.. If you like weed, there is plenty in there.. But worth every penny when you get the lumps out of there.... With the Carp Society ticket also gives you access to others lakes...
  16. There are some nice lumps in there, but some of the locals can be a pain... There are lots of other places to go locally.... Where abouts are you located, as i am just down the road at March..... Drop me a PM and we can have a chat...
  17. Not now both those fish are dead... But there are some good fish in there..
  18. Mid Kent Fisheries - Chilham Mill......
  19. Todber Manor check out there website....
  20. Off down there tomorrow for a week, anybody fished it recently and willing to give me some info via PM...
  21. I use a fixed length Zig and have cast hooklinks in excess of 12ft long with no tangles, the bait it the bucket works very well. The main thing you need to do though is use a safety clip lead drop off system, and have it so it dumps the lead very easily. because it can be very hard work when fishing long hooklinks and having a lead bouncing around adding another angle and pressure to the hook that can lead to more lost fish. Hope that helps...
  22. Mate, Lots of lakes round there, some are hush, hush, so the best thing to do is call the numbers you have, meet up at the lakes and then if you face fits, and you can afford the price, then get you name on the waiting list then do some digging around for info...
  23. We was down there as part of the FOX Experience weekend a few weeks back, lots of descent fish was caught on the large lake, but quite a few small ones was caught by stalking on the others. I would give the chap there a ring, he should be able to help you out. Lee FOX RAF Carp Team
