  1. Im going to see the winter out with my fluoro mainline but when i go back to mono in the spring i'll probably use a sinker or two a yard or so behind the hooklink just for a bit of added confidence but imo most decent monos sink ok these days if you have the patience to pay off the line properly and wait for it to sink . Sometimes it half hour after the cast before i've flipped the bail arm over and set the bobbin .
  2. Well mate if it was me , and this is just me , i wouldnt bother with the korda system for starters
  3. That first point you make is very clever dal , about protecting the hookpoint from the lead ? Never occured to me before , probably because i usually have the bottom bead a good 12-18 inches above the lead . I wonder if anybody else does that ? Use the rig foam on the choddy i mean .
  4. I'm sure dal's got a good reason for it adders , it wont be to prevent tangles thats certain . Its a helicopter rig of sorts . Tangles dont happen .
  5. Unless you're fishing over abrasive materials such as gravel bars , rocks etc i cant see the need for rig tubing . Never used tubing or leaders . Never had the need , and leadcore of course , is just dangerous. Nothing is better camoflaged than your mainline .
  6. You can set up the naked chod with mono just the same as fluorocarbon mate , just make sure you use the bigger sinkers to keep it on the deck and good rig putty on the swivel .
  7. I reckon sufix knocks seven bells out of the K stuff . But without turning this into yet another "i hate K" thread i have to say i DO . With a couple of exception that arent terminal tackle ☺
  8. thanks for adding that gary and beanzy , reason I asked that is that I was trying to explain to one of my lads how to do it over the phone , would you believe , when he was fishing at the weekend. it was his first time out fishing on his own and he was having the same trouble as frogy. I`ve let him read your replies and he is now confident that he will be ok this weekend . poor lad I think I`ve got him into fishing , he`ll forgive me one day. personally I have never had any tangle probs when I fish running lead set ups , which is pretty much all the time nowadays. I only ever used to get tangles when I fished with lead clips....
  9. Never fished there , i dont even know where it is but , just curious , your lake is it ? Welcome to the forum by the way
  10. I KNOW what you mean mr beanz , but , serious question now ( no smileys
  11. Si , a small pva stick wont hurt at any time of year mate . Or a mesh bag size of a 50p . Its hardly overfeeding even in the depths of winter . I asked that very question myself recently and the general concencus was ; its autumn they should still be on the munch . You'll know when its winter
  12. Si , i dont know how to post a link to a different thread but take a look at the sticky in this section entitled "safe lead set-ups". Theres some pics on there mate and it'll sort you out .
  13. Welcome to the forum liam . Have you been drinking again ?
  14. I missed it woody , post it again
  15. Now THIS thread might get deleted ...
  16. Hello and welcome to the forum , hope you get involved . Theres a section further down the main menu dedicated to finding new venues etc and a sticky with venues by county . Enjoy .
  17. This is the 60lb+ fish that uncle jim wished would get 'ottered' is it not ?
  18. I tend to have the bottom bead at least a foot from the lead and usually nearer 2 feet to try and reduce the chances of the fish getting clumped round the ear'ole but i use slack lines . I cant get my head around the probability of the hooklink floating in mid-water if fished on a tight line . Nick , how do you combat this ? Are the sinkers (i dont use a leader) sufficient to keep the business end pinned to the deck ? Cant see it myself ...
  19. As someone said to me the other day ; You must hace been doing something right to have got the "take" in the first place mate . Will have helped your confidence i would think ? Just check your hook's
  20. Hey si , how you get on at the weekend ?
  21. I think "characters" is the expression your looking for . Oh and eccentric
  22. Mick brown was so proud of himself he looked like he was going to cry , proper emotional he was and thats what i remember more than the actual fish liam . I realise that the stocking of foreign fish grates with a lot of people and i think everybody , in an ideal world , would like to catch a proper old english beaut , but its not the fish's fault and it still had to be landed . If a garlic chewing 40 wanted to eat one of my hookbaits i wouldnt be drop kicking it back into the lake lets put it that way ...
