  1. Not sure I have the same view here, just to give you something to think about, carp are more then accustomed to feeding deep down in silt as this is where alot of the natural goodness is found i.e. blood worm and other small naturals. Whilst fishing in france this september I was fishing into 3 foot of silt, with single or double 18mm boilie, a 6inch hooklink and recieving more than enough takes You may be able to tell if the carp are feeding in the silt my looking out for any clouded water.. Is there alot of silt around the lake or just small patches?
  2. The first fish of the week Jamie having a prod about a shallow gravel bar in the rain A couple of cool pasties and two twenties, one of which had a pectoral fin smaller than my little finger And my favourite picture of the week, my second biggest at just over 31lb As Jamie said, an absolutely legendary week, and I recommend anyone with a slight curiosity towards fishing france, check out the moorland fisheries website. You won't be dissapointed!
  3. I'll sling a couple of photos up tomorrow! I'm off to bed, and back to reality getting up for work at 5am tomorrow Its an awesome photo that one, cheers for coming round for it!
  4. Nice write up jamie! A quality week with plenty of laughs! Absolutely perfect!
  5. Double 18mm air dried! Also, are you using any particle as spod? If so, they may be really attracted to this as it is small feed, leading them onto your hookbaits and freebie boilies. have you tried going for the big boillie only approach?
  6. France, hence posting in the fishing in france section
  7. Had a week booked at a lake starting from this coming saturday, through to the following saturday but just had a call saying the water level has dropped too low due to the hot weather and the water supply running low. Now looking for a lake that has space for me and one other angler and does a food package! If anyone has any ideas or contacts it would be greatly appreciated!
  8. Yeaah the prices are a little silly, but makes for a local water when the syndicate is 2 hours away! And you're right becks is a bit of a hole in the middle of a load of fields, but not a bad place for the odd night session as its only a couple of minutes away, but I'm sorry I offended you
  9. Won't go far wrong joining luton angling club. Plenty of waters to go at on the ticket, including a few stretches of river and loads of canal. Search it in google and you'll find the website with plenty of info and pics
  10. Coops, Nige and I had booked and planned our trip to a lake in Normandy running from the 5th September to the 12th. Unfortunately, Nige has had to pull out, which leaves a possible two places free, although one person would be preferable due to transport (we already have a 3 seater van). The cost will be around £270 (based on one person, for two it will be around £200 each) for exclusive use of the lake, and an extra 120 Euros for a weeks food package if you would like it. Obviously ontop of that will be the Ferry and Fuel costs. It is a mature 4.75 acre lake with full vehicular access all around the lake. Fishing is from purpose built level swims around a peninsula giving maximum coverage of the water which makes for great social fishing. For more info, please feel free to PM me, and I'll get back to you pretty sharpish. We are two friendly guys up for a few beers, a good laugh, and a couple of lumps to boot Nice one, Bunn
  11. Hey mate, PM'd you last night with some info on a trip in september to see if you can make it. Its just me and one of the moderators from this forum at the mo so let me know if you'd like some more info. Nice and cheap, and a lovely lake. Cheers Lewis
  12. What about hemp and parti blend? And does it help to have liquid covering it?
  13. Ahh OK, I thought you meant now. And as of yet there have been no otter kills on north house. But I fully agree that it is crazy to even be thinking about the otter fence. Either pay up and sort it out now, or lose a hell of alot of fish in the near future and half the members. They are currently talking to a guy that thinks he can help and provide the fencing at a very reasonable price. Lets hope it comes through!
  14. Good stuff, I have fished on and off at becks, but knuckling down now for the summer. Had a good session saturday night with 3 fish on the bank. Maybe see you down there some time. Take it easy
  15. They are some cracking fish! I'm happy with a challenge, there wouldn't be a proper baiting campaign as I live a little far away, but would definately be up for some blanks to get at those warriors. How are the members? All sensible carpers that know how to have a laugh? Would be perfect, hopefully not too much litter and not visitied by yobs. I may even make it over there this sunday to have a look. Any decent trees to sit up?
  16. Fair enough, point taken. Are you talking about woburn sands pit? Been meaning to get down there to have a look. Unfortunately the vauxhall website has little or no info or pictures of it. Looks good on google earth, is it quite mature?
  17. Wasn't expecting anything like that from you, fella. Merely a link to any other forum discusions about it, or even a name of the lake where they were supposedly taken from. I saw that reply as being quite hostile, and I don't appreciate it. Quite frankly I don't know why you came back in that way, no need. I do understand your annoyance with the club if things like these have happened and nothing has been done, but how about chilling out when talking to people that are just asking a couple of questions with the best intentions.
  18. I'm not a member of the club, just enquiring to see if it is worth joining for the use of that particular lake. With rumours of stocking stolen fish though, I would have second thoughts. With confirmation of stolen fish, I would certainly be put off. Where did you hear this? What evidence is there to suggest that this is the case?
  19. Its available through the normal Ampthill AC ticket, but requires the syndicate ticket to enable you to night fish. The pit is over 260 acres, has a stock of around 200 carp, and apparently holds some lovely originals, 70 percent commons, 30 percent mirrors. Its not something I plan to target any time soon, but definately in the future as my first larger carp water that will take a couple of years (at least) to get to know the basics. The advantage about it being fairly close is that I would be able to spend plenty of time there. I'll definately be getting myself down there some time soon to have a wonder about.
  20. There have been a couple of threads, but these were a fair while ago and had bairly any replies. Just wondering if anyone could offer any up to date info on stock, conditions of the carp and of the lake itself. Cheers!
