  1. Go on NCFF forum mate, the gaffa is a Mod on there. Theres LOADS of info
  2. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=42385&highlight=four+seasons If you do a search theres loads of stuff on four seasons mate, some good, some bad.
  3. Talking about putting in the groundwork....I heard some hush hush rumours a few weeks ago that surfaced again at the weekend about a large, wild untapped pit that had been stocked and left alone 8 years ago. Its recently been test fished by a select few who obviously started these rumours(fish to 27lb recorded). I drove there today and found locked gates, although i could just make out a guy sat on the smaller lake pleasure fishing. I sat and waited for 2 hours until he packed away and drove to the gates to leave where i collared him and managed to find the address of the farmer who owns the lake. I knocked on his door, introduced myself politely and ended up sat in his kitchen for half an hour, the result? Permission to test fish for uncaught carp!!!! All for a couple of hours work
  4. I can see this one getting locked............
  5. Loads were stocked if i remember (1000+) to compliment the existing stock from the club who had the lease on it before tony, so the bream definately have more competition now. I doubt doubles (bream) are as plentiful as some say.Worth a crack though Finding the clearings to hold a shoal will be the hardest bit i would of thought.
  6. Very big bream in Bluebell lake, ive had them to 11lb and loads of high singles. 10mm fishmeals seem to get them going. I imagine if targeted selectively 100lb bags could be accrued within a few hours. Mallard is a big lake and very weedy at times although it is a runs water, compared to the other lakes anyway.
  7. I have a winter season ticket mate so fished it a few times since october last year. Lots of people use baitboats and seem to catch more than most. Its just done its first capture since december when a mate of mine had a 40's brace Its not easy at all despite the stock due to pressure, 60 odd lines in the water at once is common, almost a daily occurence march-oct. Bait wise sticky baits bloodworm or XS and pellet. Also Pink pop ups as singles. Most productive peg is 20/21 (windy point) at the moment.
  8. You cant swear on this forum mate
  9. Another vote for the raptors
  10. This is the second issue with Korda stuff ive heard of in the last couple of weeks, the first being the Hybrid soft. Apparently now they are telling us not to use loop knots with the soft and as such they are taking it off the market. I dont use the hooks so im not sure about them although it sounds like a cop out to me.
  11. Any of the sunnys would be good for a fish, chance of a better one too.
  12. Oh how i love the leader debate You should try the safezones
  13. Wyreside complex is a good bet.
  14. I have mates on it, difficult to get on ringstead as the turnover is almost non existent. Crackers is the 'step up' water but still has some good fish....huge cats too If you do get on ringstead dont forget your slippers, cos you wont be allowed in the cabin otherwise

I like it, actually in my earlier post i mentioned dropping leads?? This was on my 1st session on my new syndi. I knew when i lost a fish the lead set-up was to blame. Ill have a look at this for my bottom bait presentation next time out. As far as pop ups go the silt rig straight through was my other thought, but would you set it up the same? Normally i use a splicing needle and make new holes in the bead, this leaves the original holes to fill with putty to stop them lifting the line. I also thought about a heavy fluoro leader But using stop knots instead of the spliced beads, if that makes sense

Thats a shame, must of been something to do with the setup. I am yet to find a better solution and i dont agree that a leader isnt necessary. Surely you dont fish without one all the time?

Ok, fair enough. I think its a case of the manufacturers designing products that they just expect people to understand. I mean, i drop leads when i need to, and sometimes when i dont need to I admit people do set them up wrong but its the CLIPS not the leaders. And im not talking shockleaders nick, i hope your not misunderstanding

I know what your getting at nick but its not that cut and dried. Undertow WILL move your line, as will fluttering fins for eg. Safezones are made from a material and are of a thickness that will not cut into a fish if it wraps up, unlike fishing straight through. We both know what the dangers of leadcore are so these are THE best alternative in the situation mentioned. They also have excellent abrasion resistance, better than a heavy fluoro leader for example.

Safezones are the bees, the vast majority of my fishing incorporates these. They are available in all colours, lengths and with/without clips. Get on them Not cheap like

  21. slack lines give slower indication tho dont they on the alarms? Not really, if its set up correctly.
