  1. Certainly agree with this... The palomar knot is my favorite. Very easy to do, and doesn't seem to cause damage to the line, like some of the others do - even when wet! Figure of eight knot for loops on the end of hooklength. And the occasional grinner chucked in for good measure
  2. Agreed....didn't even watch 10 seconds! You will never get a very good video recorded all by yourself...Wait until you get the proper camera, then get a mate to help you. Record it a couple of times, and then add the good bits all together, remember to have the audio from just one video continuously playing - otherwise it will be really obvious that it is a cut and paste jobbie - expecially if there is background noise. Then when you come to a tricky part, like knots, have a close up video. It may take a couple of trys to get it right tho.
  3. You fish it in a combi - so its not going to the hook you plankton !! Ahhhh That makes sense!!
  4. My mate has a spool of it in 15lb... It took us ages to get it through the eye twice as its thicker than normal braid!
  5. It seems to me Kingfisher that you have come on here aiming comments at Nick to try and get him to bite?
  6. Actually, they are all made of stach, not PVA...edible also if you get hungry. Have a look onto the auction sites...'biodegradable void filler' All companies sell pretty much the same stuff, fox, solar, gardner etc. I bought 15cubic feet for about £20 including postage. Enough to last me a live time!! I have actually re-sold the stuff on there as nuggetts for fishing. I made ~£150 profit for half of the bag, selling in lots of 100!! I got bored of doing it tho, so gave up! I still have tonnes left over in my garage. Always good to have a decent supply to fill up my container before I go. I did a few tests in the bath with coated braid, and most of the time it did kick the bait away. Not perfect, but then again, when a fish moves over the bottom, it would naturally waft the debris and your hook bait around. So you can never be sure that your rig is lying in a good position all the time once the fish move in. How can you be sure that fish don't take baits lying on top of your lead?? When feeding, carp dont pick up food off the bottom with their lips, they suck it in, so would they even feel the lead, unless they where tight to the bottom???
  7. Sounds like one of those chinese finger traps
  8. How about a bigger one??
  9. i used to have it but can't find it now I have myself a lovely 100mm macro lens, i'll see what kind of results i can get. Won't go buying loads of packs of hooks unless i can get good shots of them first
  10. I was thinking aquatels. Fish to over 40 and you can pick up a yearly (As far as i remember). You must also have some form of id to fish there...
  11. That maybe the case but the carps eyesight gets worse in winter, so they kind of balance things out. No need to scale down. Staying with 6s and 8s. I'm scalling down to 8's
  12. My favorite winter rig?? The same as in the summer... The water on my lake is starting to become clearer now, so I will need to scale down soon.
  13. Violence is not the way to do things mate
  14. I understand...Work your nads of so the misses can live a life of lesuire, then i get to go fishing all the time!!! Even better, get rid!! (please no-one tell her i said that) Anyway, back to the topic, there are loads of companys out there mate, I use 1van1 when i need to hire vans for the site crews at work. Pretty reasonable, give them a ring and ask about overseas usage tho.
  15. Its not the money!! its the time!! GF, friends, work, family!!
  16. Two night hits!! I'll be lucky to get one of those!!
  17. Even a LWB one??? Not everyone takes a trailer when they go?? Or was that levi??
  18. http://www.diamondweights.com/index.html They sell glass leads....
  19. I dont think they will be able to produce anything that is as strong as metal for the time being. I'm pretty sure as new materials are produced that they will eventually produce them.
  20. Been using snakebite for a few sessions...Fished using a stiff section with a supple section near the hook (Long shank) with a line alinger made from shrink tubing. Tbh..i havn't had a carp on it. Plenty of tench, which is why i'm going to carry on using it as they are 'normally' more riggy than carp. However, i'm fishing over silt (The lake is pretty much covered in it), and from what i have read, using a combi style rig doesnt give a good presentation in silt. I will carry on to see if i can get results as i like to try things myself rather than have a magazine telling me what works and doesn't
  21. So the idea is that you have 2 hookbaits on?? The fish eats one?? And then the others weight pulls the hook into the fish??
  22. Thats all well and good if you know how to tie a knotless knot. Hope Nicks (salokcinnodrog) link helps...
  23. North Norfolk, only short sessions due to new family??? Hows the progress with catching a 20?? Have you tried the Mag-aliner?? can be a great tactic.
  24. When tightening down on the knotless knot, the hair often gets pulled around the shank of the hook. but with a little fiddling, i don't see this as a problem
