  1. Whoa, where did that come from?? Your geographical knowledge was never in question...
  2. Im in Basildon & my mate lives near Epping, so anywhere an hours or so drive from either of us is cool. I started fishing for carp late last year and was paying £10 a go for 2 rods, I went about 8 times before packing away my kit for 2007. So, if I go 20 odd times in a year, which is easily do-able, thats £200~. The thing with a syndicate lake is that the fish are well stocked and looked after. Its a big initial layout for the fisherman so the bankside maner/respect is going to be far better than a day ticket lake - the place will be tidy, looked after and hopefully not full of idiots
  3. Sorry, should have said, South Essex. Ive had a flick through some of the threads a search throws up, but by the time I've worked my way through them all, I'll be old. Was just enquiring really as to if any lakes in particular stand out above the rest. A search on the net gives lists & lists of suitable lakes, but unless you know someone who has fished them, your not really going to get anywhere or find anything out about that water. Cheers
  4. Hi all, Im looking for a syndicate lake for a mate and I to join in the Essex area. Up to about £250pa max really & ideally around the 4/5 acre mark. Being fairly new to carping, I just want a decent water where I know the fish are a decent size and in decent shape, & that can be fished for a couple of days & nights at a time without the risk of being touched by strangers in the night or having your kit nicked lol If you have any recommendations, lets see em T.I.A. 5. Heres a close up of the same pic to show how the knot looks...
  6. Cheers Tony, not bad for a first try (Whats a line aligner tho, shrink tube? ) @ Charlie, I have no idea what the knots called lol, I just followed the guy in the youtube vid that Seleb posted. Watch it once to see what you need, then get your gear together and try it along with the vid. Just pause it on the fiddly bits like the knot tying
  7. As said above the roads in France are very good. They are kept in tip top condition and the drivers over there on the whole are very good also. Driving on the 'wrong' side can seem a little daunting, but on my first go I got used to it very quickly. You'll not know untill you give it a try. Maybe try and organise going with a few others so as if you find you really cant handle the driving someone else can take over.
  8. Excellent, I've just got some Flurocarbon as i wanted to try something different with my rigs. Ive tied a couple just with that, but the combi rig in that video looked like a good idea. Thanks for posting it Im still pretty new to carping so am willing to try anything at the mo to see what works best for me. Ive just had a bash at tying one, & for a first go im pretty pleased. I guess the proof will be in the fishing tho I used ESP 18lb 'Ghost' Fluro, Kryston 25lb Merlin braid & a Nash TT 'Fang' size 6 hook.
