  1. hi, im seriously thinking about going to eye kettleby lakes later this year. just wondering if anyone has been and what is it like? i will be doing a bit of fishing there but its mainly to treat the missus and have a week shacked up in a nice log cabin getting all 'cosy' i was looking at the 'rowan lodge' as its ideal for couples as its a one bedroom with all the toys, hot tub, sauna, homw cinema, champagne etc. i just want to know what the sites like for food etc i have done a search but not a lot of info came up. thanks in advance
  2. does anyone else fish it? if so then politley ask them.
  3. i wouldnt even bother trying to tie that, to many swivels and beads. i think its one of those rigs to make you buy more tackle.
  4. so that you cant see the complete mess you have just made of trying to tie it
  5. hi mike, im also from southampton. what waters do you fish or want to fish? i would be happy to share my car with you if its conveniant for both of us. the trouble is i work a thursday-sunday shift at work and only really go to my club waters which is test valley ac. if you do ever need a lift to and from a lake and im free then ill happily either come with you or drop you off and pick you up again. let me know when you fish, weekends, weekdays etc and what lakes you want to fish
  6. 3000 carp, blimey. are you sure your putting a hook on? im sure if there is that many id just go spinning as you would be guarenteed to hook one just by banging into them
  7. i havent fished it myself but the keys words you wrote were 'stories of peolpe catching 50 fish ina 24 hours session' it probably is just stories
  8. im off to the match lake in november with a work mate who has a ticket there. just wondered if anyone on this site is a regular there?
  9. they had some problems in the past but with pete the new owner he has really done a good job at making the place clean, tidy, better faciltys and a lot better fish. i dont fish it now as ive got a club ticket and am concentrating on 2 lakes but i have mates that fish it and catch regualry. look at the broadlands website and look at the catch reports, it pretty easy now with all the new fish and he has put a couple 30 lber's in but also a lot of 8-15 lber's in. good luck
  10. i was being sarcsatic fella, im from southampton, portsmouths biggest rivals. we call you skates coz your dirty animals that eat poo and are the lowest thing on the seabed and we are called scummers or scum. i try to stay away from portsmouth so cant advise you on the fishing, sorry skate
  11. i wouldnt bother carp fishing in portsmouth i would get the sea fishing gear out and fish for the SKATES as theres loads of them in portsmouth love gary the scummer x
  12. if you want peace and quiet and nature then you cant beat embley lake on the test valley ac. its near shootash/wellow and my favourite lake of all time. tbh i have seen pics and vids of redmire and it is very similar in shape and size as redmire and with some lovely fish upto 30lb. im going there on tuesday for an overnighter and cant wait as i havent been there for 3 weeks if you want any more details then feel free to ask
  13. ive got around 15 but only 4 or 5 are for spares to be used. the others are rigs that i have caught 'special' fish on. ones that mean something to me. like my first catfish biggest carp etc etc i do like to make a few rigs up when i aint been fishing for a while and need to get 'fishy'
  14. thats a very weird rule that you live too close to some of the waters. usually you have to live within a certain distance of them to qualify. sorry i havent heard of them myself but im sure someone on here will be able to help as we have members all over the country. good luck
  15. i didnt realise boilies were banned the bream there can be a head bake as well yeh johns spot on but the other baliff is a knob, he wears a flat cap and is a complete prick, he tried charging my mate a full 24hr ticket when he was only there for 14 hours, i rang john and we settled on £10.
  16. hi bluearmycarper, i take it that from the name you are from skatesville, dirty pompey git!!!! i live about 4 miles from this water in glorious southampton, land of the kings!!!! on a serious note this water is fairly easy as it has been stocked recently with loads of pups but they have got quite a few 20's in there as well to keep it exciting. my mates down there at the mo and when i spoke to him at 5pm he had already pulled out 9 fish in 8 hours so its fairly easy. the best place to pull em out from is just infront of the island you have 2 blue aireators about 2 metres out from the island, if you cast between them running the width of the island 2 metres out then you will catch. you will see them jumping out anyway. the best swim is the big double swim which has a bench in it, you can cast to the island from there without crossing anyones swims and there is loads of room to bivvy up. if you go down in the week its fairly quite but it can be packed at the weekends so its best to phone the baliff on 07973523358 to book for the weekend. he only allows up to 8 anglers overnight as well. there is a portaloo there but nothing else. watch out for the skanky polish who come through the woods as well, they usually run off when we go over to them to tell them to [censored] off but we always take tools with us just in case they get rowdy. apart from that its a good lake, not very big but well stocked. tight lines skate
