  1. I remember buying a bait years ago, it was one of those mix it yerself jobs called 'Black Magic" you mixed it up to a paste and then had to knead it like a dough for 10 minutes and you got a sinking bait that skinned off if you left it..... 2 days..... 2 BLEEDIN DAY'S I kneaded that flippin paste... would it sink... would it beggary... went in the bin so it did... tried making a few baits over the years gave it up as a bad job... my young apprentice is giving it a go as I type... good luck to him...
  2. they are nice little reels but they do have a bit of a habit for getting line behind the spool... lost mine when a Carp pulled my rod and reel in at Docklow a couple of years ago... I was gutted I have the BP6 as a spod reel on my Dwarf spod rod... works a treat
  3. A 6000 size shimano works... my young apprentice is using a pair of 4000 Aero X Shimmys on his 10 Scopes and they don't half look tasty
  4. Can you go through your gear in a week...☹
  5. It amazes me the amount of folks trying to find a way round all the bans and gatherings.... WTFlip do they think this virus is....? Its a killer ferchrissakes... there is a very good chance you can die if you get it.... I want to slap some folks rigid with some of the rubbish I've heard
  6. Few inlines, few 1oz, couple of 2oz and some 2.5oz... think theres 3 of each... Couple of micro inlines too just for summat different
  7. My kit looks like that... I took 1lb 3oz out of me lead bag t'other day
  8. It was Yonny.... and I'm a fan of Rod's stuff... if someone had finished it for him it would have been okay but it's ending was just abrupt and left the book incomplete
  9. Not about carp per se but with a few nods to it.... have a read of Rob Olsen's "Waterlust" Finished Rod Hutchinson's "Before I forget" and whilst the start of the book was great it was rather picture heavy and was basically unfinished and cut off without much preamble.... sad to see Rod meet his maker, but I think that this is a book that should not have been published as it is, but completed by a close friend or family or not at all.....
  10. Definition of Carpy.... paying a fortune for summat that cost pennies cos its painted green or cammo...🤣🤣🤣😜
  11. Exercise.... 50 sit ups, 10 mins on the exercise bike and 15mins of pilates work... all done indoors and leaves me time to slobber over Lorraine Kelly... I'd love to go fishing but this virus is too much of a killer to chance... I console meself with the notion that when I do finally get out the fish'll be gagging for a bit o' grub.... stay indoors... stay safe lads... you know it makes sense...👍
  12. Got up, shave and shower... cupp tea, bowl of wheaty bangs... gotta clean and refill the bird feeder in the garden, defrost my bait freezer, make a big pot of gammon leek and potato soup, tidy and hoover the gaff, then sit and watch telly till the memsahib gets in from work... if I get time... life's a blast innit...?
  13. Spent the afternoon making an "office" in the conservatory for my lass... She's on a rota from work and been asked to take turns at working from home... Also, she's concerned about not seeing her 82 year old mum, so I set up a skype account so she can talk to her on video chat... So she's happier than she was yesterday..
  14. I'm out on Monday... on the Mill at Great Baddow on the day ticket lake... my young apprentice is still keen
  15. So what happened to the site for the last 18 or so hours... hadn't been able to get on since yesterday evening... everytime I tried to access the site the connection timed out... all other parts of the net were fine
  16. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kampa-khazi-Khazi-Portable-Toilet/dp/B001TQ5KC2/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?dchild=1&keywords=kamping+khazi&qid=1583936291&sr=8-1-fkmr1 you need one of these for long stay's
  17. I have an Angling Intelligence Retainer/Sling... never use it to retain fish but it's excellent as a weigh sling,
  18. From a magazine perspective I downloaded an app called Readly.... tenner a month for all the mags you can read.... sadly ony a few titles are available... Angling times and mail plus improve you coarse fishing, that works out over a tenner a months worth in just the weeklies alone take into accout the bike mags pgotography mags and computeractive weekl and its worth the money.... shame theres not more fishing mags to go for
  19. It's dragging the little blighters away from Bookface or Chapsnat thats the hard bit... most kids have their faces buried in a screen these days... whereas a lot of kids (when I were a nipper) were chucked outta the house to give our parents a bit o P&Q... so we went fishing... not for carp, god no.... carp were seen as the pinnacle of ones fishing achievements... nowadays kids get better gear than I had first time out and learn their craft (if one can call it such) at the Altar of The Korda Underwater series or The church of Youtube without understanding the reasoning behind the teachings....
  20. Tried COG's... didn't like em... found the shortened swivel rarely detached from the lead even after vigorous shaking... mine went in the bin...👎
  21. Think I'm going to have a dry run at home and see if the lead clears the stops... if it does I'll give it a go on the water
  22. Theory.... when a fish takes it's rarely on the lateral... more at an angle.... so.... with that in mind removing the insert and putting a pair of small rubber float tops behind the lead, the line at the point of the take would be on enough of an angle to stop the lead but slimline enough to go through the lead in the event of a break off...?
  23. Is there a safe way of setting up a Shokka rig with inlines...? I used to use a bead as the shokka part of the rig, but went over to a straight inline when it was shown that the lead doesn't always clear the bead in the event of a break...
  24. Have a look at the Avid inlines... very nice... I use the 1.5 oz ones for bag work
