  3. I have ended up on mine after trying it for a campaign on a tricky gravel pit, 2 months in and I had 4 fish, including the lake record, which still stands today. Had a wobble when he went france and I needed bait so I got some cheap from a friend (solar stuff) even the coots wouldnt have it. Tried the CCMoore, again through a friend. Didn't rate it (the pacific tuna that is) and then went back to where I am now. He's just made me a consultant which is nice of him! and it gives me a few perks, as well as running the social media catch reports which keeps me busy on a sunday evening. This is the type of company that I went to collect the bait first time (local to me) and I was in the unit for 3 hours chatting away. Now I'm trusted I know a few secrets. All of these baits are complex HNV baits, none of them have less than 8 (but I think that may be 10 now) ingredients. Price: Lower than the general public but if I wasnt in the position I am with the company i'd still pay the £8/kg Smell and Flavor - Currently testing a tuna/krill bait, will be switching to a mix of the nutmix and Creamy CSL for winter. Other baits include Caviar, monster crab and plum (my fave), meaty/spicy, giant shellfish. Reputation - Been around since the 90s making his own bait, it's caught some very sought after fish in the Nene Valley and at Fen Drayton amongst various other places. Some BIG river fish and some big french fish too (on places like Etang 5, etc.). Back in the day Mr Shelley wanted in, but terms couldnt be agreed. He practically stalks my instagram nowadays liking the catch photos. Hopefully the reputation will grow and grow but for one guy in a small unit, in the bait world climate we are in it needs a lot of pushing. Catch Reports - On the test bait I'm currently Company Name - Responsive Baits

    How you choose a Boilie!

i make my own bait (like many friends here in the forum) and i have tested only 2 company baits but the big difference among my bait and 2 other UK companies same year same season same lake did the AH from baitworks, without prebaiting on a hot summer at 2014. Unfortunatelly the shipping cost to Greece is very high and i buy occasionally only popups. Also many barbels were caught on this bait. Winters here are mild but Spring and Summer hot , so fishmeals are very effective. These days the temperature is 76-80 f so the fishmeal seems a good choice.

  7. Nearly got ran over today, reported and will press charges if the old bill can find it on CCTV and prove malicious driving. Bit rattled, sorry What are the components of Activ 8? Some of them are very obvious: Yeast, Sugar, Salt.. After that a soluble protein either fish or liver, essential oil probably BP Not that I care much really, I no longer use it and am of the opinion that my new bait is twice the quality

  8. NIT picking I meant Here's a little lesson on how to be polite in print: Word your statement like this: ''actually what I think he said.... lad di da.... was...lad di da... MATE'' I hope you're not a school teacher And leave me alone

  9. I just wish I could take Flint with me when I go fishing but to be honest he's 5 years old but he's a typical Springer he thinks he is still a pup. He's mad as a hatter he car'nt sit still for longer than 2 minutes and if he's near water then there's no chance of keeping him out of it. I don't think I'd be very popular with other angler's with him running around diving in the lake every chance he got.

    Cheating at Fishing

Hi everyone. I'm Gaz from Coventry. I've always loved fishing but to be honest, the extent of my skills extend to setting up a float rod and bagging up on roach and bream in the canal using the methods my dad taught me 35 years ago. Ive been out with a couple of friends who are seriously carpy and ive caught a few bangers. Problem is, they always set me up and I never seem to learn anything. I want to learn the skills to be able to tie a rig myself and go out on my own and have a decent stab at it. Looking forward to browsing the site, thanks for having me.

  11. Lol it's Blue Dragon mate Very good, Waitrose one also excellent, but the cheap ones work fine anyway. My Tiparos one 70cl 4 quid off ebay is excellent

  12. Basically any tube will have a plane which it ''likes to'' bend on Building on this, the spine as it's called, will improve a rods performance no end, mainly casting accuracy thing but also the feel is better and far less twist I don't accept non spine built rods any more Most of the big manufacturters will rubbish the importance of it for a simple reason - they can't be bothered to do it Daiwa's upper range of rods is built in the UK, on the spine. They are the only big manufacturer which bothers. You're looking at Whiskers and above. I have a pair of Whiskers as my spare rods and they are very good

    How you choose a Boilie!

Nope never wanted to, making bait and selling it is a thankless task, I have friends that do. I originally worked for a small bait firm where I live when i was a lot younger, now i just help other people where i can and make my own

  15. I have no interest mate. I don't want to get too into bait science. Not being dismissive but I found a company I trust and like I said I'm really happy with what I'm on - It's been about for 30 years. It doesn't get much more proven than that in the trade!

  16. Mainline are astonishingly successful. I wouldn't say that was open to debate? Cell is the number one boilie in the UK and has been for years. I wouldn't say that was all down to hype and advertising? There is something in them that carp love. IF they did that on the cheap then that makes them clever! (But the fact is that carp thrive on it as well).. I don't use it because I like to be different. That approach did not work in the past though, until I discovered the bait I'm on which I am more than happy to settle on

  17. lol To be fair mate I don't think the astonishing success of Mainline is down to a cheap 50 50 basemix!? I'm fond of Activ 8, I don't use it any more though, mainly because too many other anglers on my lake were on it I'm using another fishmeal though, perhaps if I'd really thought about it I should have tried a birdfood bait but I am just confident on fishmeals simple as

  18. That would depend on how much effect you think some flavours have in a bait outside of helping to open your wallet to pay for it.

    Cheating at Fishing

For tying rigs, "You Tube" is your friend. Lots and lots of useful information on there. When I first started, the thought of tying a knotless knot filled me with dread, despite having been a coarse fisherman for donkey's years. It was a foreign language!! But I watched a few vids and soon got the hang of it. Showed my daughter Lydia how to tie one, within 10 minutes she was tying her own like a boss! Stick with the basics. Take no notice of all these "wonder rigs"... THAT'S where it gets confusing. A simple running rig will catch you plenty of fish (providing they are there in the first place!). Two knots worth learning are the aforementioned Palomar knot, or the tucked half blood. I tend to use the latter and have never had one let me down. Any questions, ask away. We are one of the friendliest bunches of people on the internet.
