    Orchid Lakes

I've fished this place five times and i wouldnt go again. First of all they don't pay their bayliffs. They give them free fishing. On all 5 trips I've had to orchid the bayliff has had the best beg stiched up. There are main roads running round all sides of this lake and as its a popular bike route so be prepared to listen to sports bikes red lining all day and night. you also have to add the squealing of lorry brakes into the mix too The pegs are very close together and waaaaay to many pegs for the acreage. The pegs are also small so a small bivvy is needed. He charges to take your kit to the peg and throws it about like a British airways luggage handler. For the money I'd rather go to horseshoe or bluebell

  3. Hi Davie...NM is right again...there are a lot of smaller fish to go at but some bigger ones as well. Its right up your street this kind of venue if your a method man but you can also catch them up in the water if it warms up a little or for some absolutely cracking fun you can fish the lift method down the margin with a bigger bait as this will get you a better stamp of fish usually. You will get plenty of knocks but when a carp takes it you will know as it will be off so your clutch setting needs to be a little softer. Also watch the water as you will be looking for tail patterns or sediment being kicked up so you know there are fish about. Don't strike until your floats either disappeared or its laying flat on the surface. Keep feeding a couple of margin swims very regular but lightly for a couple of hours while you are using the method and then when you want a tea drop the float in on one of your spots for ten mins or when you see signs of activity. Its a great way of a bonus fish and it could be your biggest....give it a try mate

I've fished it couple times no best pegs the best peg is ware the fish are on the day. Owner doesn't reserve pegs it's first come first serve. It's not the hardest water find the fish and keep rigs simple standard hair rig bottom baits worked for me. If it's warm when you go make sure you take some floaters. It's nice lake well run and some nice old carp in there can get weedy in summer so be prepared for weedy conditions if you go in the warmer months.
