  1. I've just finished getting the rods out, got one on two grains of pop up maize and the other 2 on pineapple pop ups. I used the marker rod to find a gravel patch that's 9ft deep, clipped up and used some bank sticks to wrap up my 3 rods and the spomb rod. I baited the area with 25 spombs of birdseed and maize (arms feel like their gonna drop off lol) and put my three rods on the baited area. I'll be baiting up again when it's starting to get dark, probably put another 10 spombs out as well. I've never used wrapping sticks/clipping up before so it's probably gonna take a few sessions to get used to it lol.

  2. Nothing yet mate, I've rebaited the rods and put about 20 spombs of bait out so I'll leave them out for the night now unless I catch. I hit the bivvy with the spomb as well and coated it in particles lol. Sat in the bivvy having a brew and a bacon sandwich now, happy days lol

I have fished Ladignac Lake a few times and there are plenty of carp in it but I haven't seen anything bigger than about 7 or 8 kilos. I belong to an amicale locally. We have our own lake with carp to 20kg.

l fish the Vienne just below St Leonard de Noblet and the barbel are the same around 5lb. Is your local lake the one in Ladignac, never fished there, how big are the carp in there. The biggest ive had in my local lake was 11.6 kg.

I live in 87500 south of Limoges and fish the Vienne quite often - usually within a few km of Aixe sur Vienne. The river here is stuffed full of barbel, but nothing much bigger than 4/5lb most of the time. I have had carp to 25lb here but tackling up is always a matter of balance between over gunning yourself for the barbel or not fishing strong enough for the carp. In the end I settled for a pair of Free Spirit Barbel Tamers - the 11' 2lb test ones - and these have proved to be absolutely perfect for the job paired with a pair of Shimano DL6000s. I tend to fish with 10lb line through spring and summer as the bottom is snaggy and line gets a lot of roughing up. My experience has been that most of my carp have come from the margins and slacks whilst the barbel tend to really shoal up in pacy stretches. The Barbel Tamers have also handled carp up to 16kg from my local club lake with absolutely no problems at all.

  7. Its a shame that this thread suddenly stopped , I enjoyed the posts of getting ready to go fishing getting all the gear ready and the excitement of it all , there was no arguments about anything through the whole of it unlike most , and lots of unanswered questions like , did gaz and his mate catch anything ? are they still fishing it ? what did phil do with that goose ? did the helicopter chod feeder rig work ? dave

Hi, not fished up that end of the vienne, l normally fish the vienne around St Leonard de Noblat, or on the Maulde that feeds the vienne, lots of barrages on the Maulde with a good lake at Bujaleuf. I live south about 20 mins south of Limoges and also fish a local lake about 3 hectres with some good carp in , biggest I've had 11.4kg about 25lb, brugge
