  1. A bit of an unsung hero, but I still rate the Fox Micron alarms of old, bullet proof and reliable

  2. After catching a carp from the Soar at the back end of last summer, I am planning a bit of a mini campaign for this spring/summer. I've not got a very long attention span for fishing lakes for days on end without catching, I prefer short sessions either early or after work and also the buzz of not knowing what will come out. I am not looking for venue advice as such, as I fish a few matches and pleasure fishing on the canal, so I have a fairly good idea of where the carp should be. I know there are a lot of fish at the loughborough end, but I am planning on fishing closer to home (leicester city) as I want to prebait/fish lots of short sessions and I dont want to spend my time driving across town. Is anyone else local into this kind of fishing....? or fancy meeting up... Part of my preperation involved the purchase of a set of 3 nash scope 9ft rods today for the tight towpath swims.

    Big bait runners

If you like using big pits but want the feture of a bait runner why not look at the reels which have both... like the longcasts by shimano or the br's from daiwa. Both will suit your needs.. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    Bite alarms

That's 100% true. I know the "are they worth it" conversation comes up from time to time. I've just sold my set of Fox MR+ alarms and bought delks. They are a luxury, and far from essential! I will say, that the sensitivity adjustment is nice. Used properly you can get a better idea of what's going on sub surface with them, but in real terms they don't get you more bites and if your setup is good you don't need alarms to be that sensitive. If anything they make up for mistakes or failings in your setup but they aren't nessesary. I wouldn't go back, but for me they were something to buy when I was happy with everything else and had a few quid spare. As a first set, or if you're on a budget, a ticket to a good lake or a freezer full of bait would be much better use of the money.

  7. After giving myself a headache reading the EU Vote thread I thought I'd lighten the mood by posting a couple of pics from my recent session in France. This was my first time fishing in France, I'd never been particularly drawn to continental angling. Needless to say that soon changed and I have next years trip booked already...... Hope you like.....
