beanz Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 what lead set up are you using ?? Quote
nealy_uk Posted September 16, 2009 Author Report Posted September 16, 2009 Its a running 2.5oz lead to a Drennan pike float with beads either side, to a swivel with 2ft of 10lb Drennan Double to a 8 Korda curv shank hook Quote
beanz Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 its probably the float rising quicker than the bait causing the tangle. inline lead i find is best, and depending on how deep, just tie the lenght you want to fish at ,without a sunken float. put the hook in a bucket or cup if needed to stop it snagging the bank on the cast. or use a the run rig and short hook lenght and add a pva bag of mixers or pva nuggets, something that will pull the line up to the depth your after. nash_gadgeteer Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 I use a fixed length Zig and have cast hooklinks in excess of 12ft long with no tangles, the bait it the bucket works very well. The main thing you need to do though is use a safety clip lead drop off system, and have it so it dumps the lead very easily. because it can be very hard work when fishing long hooklinks and having a lead bouncing around adding another angle and pressure to the hook that can lead to more lost fish. Hope that helps... Quote
leon80 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 I find when using the adjustable zig, if you tie a piece of pva mesh to the swivel where you attach your hooklink, then hook the hook thru this it stops all tangles as the bait and float rise together. i fish a 3 foot hooklink and hav'nt had any tangles yet. hope this helps Quote
welshcarp1985 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 either loop the lenght up or double back on itself then simply either tie some pva string on a few points or tape and cast out. When the pva melts the zig will float. Not used it much and have not caught but i have read about it and also seen people using it and it works for them. Quote
