bigsteve Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Using a floating mixer, how long would you recommend the lenght of line be from the suface float to the hook ? Quote
snag Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 i usually use no less than 8 feet of drennan double strength 6lb with a 1 3/4 rod and get some vaseline on the hooklength to stop it sinking and dragging your bait around. Quote
silly12sally Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Usally the same height as yourself. In your case 'Big Steve' that must be like 10 ft. Cant get over how big you are. Quote
fishermanjoe Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 this is where i am different to a lot of people i prefere a shortes length of maybe 1 0r 2 foot unless using a zig rig when surface contorroling i think the fish has mor chance of hooking itself with shorter hairs, i may be wong but thats what i prefere, Quote
onedaya30 Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 I hate to sound like middle of the road here, but I use 3-6 feet The length is dependant on the wind strength, and it's direction, calculated against where I can effectively present the bait on the water due to vegetation and landscape. marker Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 mines predictable too, i use about 5ft of drennan double strength, greased up with mucilin as recommended above Quote
goodcarp Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 hi i have the same prodlem fishing on the top i have it adout 2 foot long how long do you have your line Quote
salokcinnodrog Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 I have split this thread. The venue question is now in UK Where to Fish. As for surface hooklinks I use an arms span. Really technical way I know, especially as I normally freeline. I just prefer that length no matter what hooklink I use. Quote
