tezza74 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 makeing them at home is a good idea.gives you something to do rather talk to the mrs and kids lmao Quote
louis84 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 i have about 15 rigs pre tied in my wallet. most of them are simpless knotless knot or with a line aligner (or liner liner as 'starbaits' once said, god i miss that kid). then after the i have about 3 combi rigs, 2 stiff fluro, couple of pop up rigs....... made one anti eject rig last night, but I always use a standard knotlees knot rig anyway. if it aint broke dont fix it Quote
boots_n_braces Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 About 10 but most of them are the same it just saves me hassle during the night. I either use braid or nylon, and i only have 2 hook patterns i use, bait wise im using the same thing for most of the season so hairs are pre whipped on from dacron. the only changes i ever make are length and if i think im getting done i put a bristle filament anchor bar across the hook and super glue and angle into the first half inch of the line (much neater and far less intrusive than shrinktube Quote
crappercarper Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 ive got around 15 but only 4 or 5 are for spares to be used. the others are rigs that i have caught 'special' fish on. ones that mean something to me. like my first catfish biggest carp etc etc i do like to make a few rigs up when i aint been fishing for a while and need to get 'fishy' Quote
Malc 1950 Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 For winter fishing I will have quite a few ready tied, gets hard to tie rigs when you can't feel your fingers. In the warmer weather I just tie them up when required, but will have a couple already made up if one needs changing during the night. Quote
carpio_rom Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 I never leave home without at least 40-50 pretied rigs. 1/4 are simple knotless knot with and without line aligner, 1/2 are combi rigs (Tim Paisley style), 1/4 are D rigs, stiff rigs. Quote
jafourie Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 ..sheesh Ok, here goes I have over 300 rigs (required in competative carp angling). In South Africa - Snags are a problem in waters where tempo fishing occurs (+800kg over 72 hour session), you loose a lot of rigs and I would probably in one such session loose close to 150 rigs. On the specimen side the losses are far and few in between and probaly only have 12 rigs ready made Quote
levigsp Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 At a guess I should think I have 40 or so,like to make sure things are spot on,which I find easyer to do at home. Quote
coops_northants Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 I tie up a few from time to time. I have a selection of rigs ready made and when i get the lake i choose the ones most suited. if i have special situation i will knock up one there and then. I dont use overly complicated rigs anyway most complicated are the fluro to merlin combis to be honest. Quote
dave_2133 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I have about 10 made up but i always find that i make a fresh 1 up everytime i fish. I think it just me thinking that an old rig will snap on me, so i make a fresh 1 just to be sure. Quote
bettyboo Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 ) i have an esp wallet holds 30-40 i have about 25 made up. i make mine at home, when im board nothing on telly. Quote
onedaya30 Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 I tie rigs wen I can't go fishing as well and I also have a habit of rushing off to tie some when I have a sudden moment of clarity after a session and I think I have found the answer ; never is though, because as we all know there is no one answer to what catches Mr or Mrs carp. Probably have about 40 tied at the moment- 20 of my favourite combi links in various lengths, hook sizes and hair lengths, and the rest made uo of different 'specials'. I like to have a few ready tied as I tend to change after every fish- Thank god for qwik links!!! Quote
