Zig rigs

Wouldn't use a sub float, see other posts about it being a death rig.

To help with your problem what I have done in the past is to coil your rig up and then tie it into one section with a length of pva string obviously this will melt.. This will hold it together and won't tangle on your cast. You have to careful when you coil the rig up that you don't tangle it then.

Hope this help

That sounds like a damn good idea, I'll try that myself. Ta!

If you read the other thread right through you would see how to set up a sub float safely with no chance of it being a death rig.

fishing boy, like ice said i too normally if experiencing tangles tie the rig with pva and in addition i add a peice of pva foam to help keep it up in the water on impact not sure how much this does but it keeps my mind at ease, usually though if you have room in the peg you can lay your rig on a un hooking mat and cast off the ground works for me 80% of the time .

ive caught a few on zig rigs but not many. you can put your line in a cup and cast that way but with a zig of 8-10ft i wouldnt have much trouble casting?? :D courtz is your man to ask :D

Yeah i put the hook in a cup behind me then cast it out

Hooklink - preston reflo powerline in 8lb 15oz b/s

Hooks - Drennan Super Specialist Barbel size 10 or 12

For a rig use an inline lead upto baout 2oz with 1ft of tubing behind, and ALWAYS feather the cast down before holding the line just before the lead its the water, as this sends the hookbait forwards straighting out the hooklength so it should cast.

It's strange really that i've not properly used a zig in over 8 months, even though last year i had my best ever winter/spring campaign using the method.

Now when i cast them out i just have no confidence  just because my new water has muchless fish in i cant seem to get my head around using them for some reason, im doing to try and keep on on atleast one rod next session :idea:

the pva string coupling together some large loops can work and add the pva foam will give you that added confidence to ensure the bait heads upwards straight away once in the water albeit i acknowledge long distance casting can be tricky with a zig. Re people not having had much luck with zigs I have clearly been very lucky - i find on a warmish day, a zig rig with a cloudy spod mix over the top can produce some fun fishing as the fish enter the cloud of spod mix and find your zigged hookbait floating amongst it....
