OldBoy Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 Hi guys, As per topic, it seems like no big maize seems to be available anymore, had some stuff delivered from net but once again it is sooo small, great for loose feed but no way can put it on hair rig Any suggestions if there are any reputable suppliers, tbh I don't trust the net pics anymore.... kevtaylor Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 You could buy a jar of prepared maize just for hook baits as you can see how big it is through the jar or use a plastic version 👍 elmoputney 1 Quote
elmoputney Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 If you don't want to use plastic you could use a tails up baits cornz hookbait on the rig. If you can find a local feed store you might be able to look at it before buying kevtaylor 1 Quote

Funny you should post as I have a pan of maize simmering on the stove for this week. I get mine from Gladwells at Copdock Mill. It's definitely big enough to drill and put on the hair. 1 hour ago, kevtaylor said: You could buy a jar of prepared maize just for hook baits as you can see how big it is through the jar or use a plastic version 👍 I must admit I gave up on plastic baits, both for lake rules, and my peace of mind environmentally. I became concerned about leaving plastic baits in the environment should I crack off. The last few pieces I have found and retrieved are actually smaller than real grains of maize, and fake sweetcorn is smaller than the standard piece I use for bait. 39 minutes ago, elmoputney said: If you don't want to use plastic you could use a tails up baits cornz hookbait on the rig. I'm too tight to buy additional specific hookers... kevtaylor 1 Quote

I got a job lot at the Essex show, but yeah a trimmed down pop up would work just as well kevtaylor and salokcinnodrog 2 Quote

I'd completely forgotten about them, d'oh, and I get online discount from Rod Hutchinson. Reminds me, I must check out the boilies section I have as I think I will need to order some more. Quote
