Thats what i love so much about this site , theres always someone willing to help or give really good helpful advice . Great place .

Bigd it dont matter whether you are black , white or sky blue , pink with yellow dots mate , thats the great thing about Carp fishing , anybody can do it if they are willing to learn , which some are not :)

It obviously is a great help if you have previous fishing experience which by the sounds of it you have .

Big game fishing in the west indies appeals to me and i can see , from that , why Carp fishing appeals to you .

Myself , my fishing background comes from years of sitting on canals and park lakes as a kid fishing for tiddlers .

Its what i like to call "the apprenticeship" and the experience stands you in good stead for when you decide to venture into the carp world , and your experiences in the Windies will be of help to you .

Particuarly in Fish handling i suspect .

As you know , there is always somebody on here willing to help so anything you need to know just ask .

As Phil (chillfactor) and CM will tell you , learn the basic stuff , get fishing , and the more advanced stuff is just a natural progression from there .

Enjoy your session with Phil , you'll learn loads .

I wish i could join you . I think i would benefit from his experience too

Had a quick browse on the net bigd ... there are a few day ticket waters around your area ,but there holes in the ground and I was hoping to find something with a bit more character for us to fish , where we might actually need to use a bit of water craft to locate the fish .

I've got a mate who lives out that way who's a good angler I'll get hold of him and see if he knows of any hidden gems for us to fish .

Have you got any ideas mate yourself ?

Right mate , think the best we can do without driving miles for a short day session is orchard lake on the Arden lakes complex .

not somewhere I would ever think of fishing normally but should be good for you to get a bend in the rod , and at least it's tree lined and got a bit of age to it + a few fish over 20lb to keep me interested .

there's a ban on boilies so hemp & corn, spam and pellets are the order of the day .... what do you think ?

It's a shame you guys aren't doing this the week after next as I'd love to join in. I'm mad busy with work all next week but I could pinch a day off the following week.

I've fished Orchard Pool at Arden Fishery many times (prefer The Bowl, tbh) and may be able to offer some pointers. Oh well.

Buy some sweetcorn and a big tin of spam , I'll get some hemp prepped for us . You say you only have starter kit, would you rather use that or shall I sort out some of my spare kit for you to use for the day ?
