cobleyn
It really depends where you are going. If you're heading onto Chatecoq or Cassien and boating your rigs out to 250+ yards, you need to make sure you can put that amount of line + 50 yards for playing the fish (before you get in the boat) on your spools. if you are on a normal French lake- i.e. one that's similar to a UK lake (up to 120 acres) - then there's no issue with your normal UK gear. leggs007
7.2 acres is pretty small so normal reels will be fine
wags1984
Hopefully should be able to get enough yardage of 18 or maybe 20lb line on the spools
nash_gadgeteer
Hopefully should be able to get enough yardage of 18 or maybe 20lb line on the spools You don't really need to go to them levels, I use 12 or 15 lb line in France with no hassle at all, and have landed very large carp, catfish and sturgeon.. But putting new line on prior to the trip is advisable...
cobleyn
If the lakes not snaggy, or there aren't fish over 60lb's; I would say there's no need to go above 15lb's. I'm going to Vallee in a couple of weeks (Carp to 65lb,cats over 100lb and sturgeon to 90lb) and I've only got 17lb tiger flouro on. I would still expect to cast 120 yards with that.
