painted hooks

Does anyone have any input on whether or not a painted hook(painted in order to match bait color) would have any undesirable effect of on the fish in the event of a break-off?

Not to sure but im certain the fish might actually smell the paint and not go near your hook anyway.

Sounds like your just making your hook stand out to me, plus as tony said the paint could put them off.

Painting all of a hook except the point with tipex can certainly help with surface fishing in the right conditions but as for bottom baits i cannot really see how it would help.

If you really are concerned about concealing your hook then why not give the hook masks a go that enterprise make?

hey i agree with courtz "It could also affect the penetration purposes of the rig" have you seen the korder DVDs??? if you have give the fake blood worm ago on the hook dont paint it as the fish may sense it!
