matt200vvc
Evening, 5 of us will be booking a trip to France in April of next year, But as the choice is huge we don't know where to go. We are looking for 30LB plus fish (that way we all have a chance of beating our PB's) We want to hire the whole lake, and a food package would be great Can anyone advise a venue please? Cheers. jules007
what part of france are you looking at, a lot of the french site owners are members of this forum and if you can be a little more specific you will get some good suggestions

Would prefer Southern France due to the weather at that time of year i guess, but as i say, were open to suggestions.

mrs_rusheslake
Its a bit of a myth that the south of France will have better weather in April. I would be looking at venues around Brittany edging Mayenne & Southern Normandy which seem to fare better that time of year. To be honest April is always a bit of a gamble but if you hit it right the rewards are there, indeed in this area April some years produces some glorious tshirt weather and others weather fit for ducks! I would rule us out as we have no exclusive weeks available for 2010 at all, (thanks for the recommendation tho Jez!) Have a look at Genesis Carp Fishery... absolutely ideal for the 5 of you. Eddy & Val I know would ensure you have a great time. www.Genesis-carpfishery.com Also Windmill Lakes run by Sue & Dave the whole venue is absolutely ideal for a group with a specimen lake & a runs water. www.windmilllakes.co.uk
Guest planchon
Hi, Have a look at Etang de Planchon, this is a 4 acre lake opening for its first season in March 2011, will be stocked with Virgin carp in December 2010, a good number of 30lb+ fish are being stocked. Lake can be hired exclusively for 5 anglers max, approx 30 mins from Limoges airport, food packages are available and so is tackle hire if required. We do have available weeks at the end of April 2011. Have a look at the website, link below Etang de Planchon Any queries, please feel free to contact me. moorsey
Having lived in Burgundy [slightly over half way down through France] for 9 years I can say that April in this part of FRance is normally a proper spring and the fishing can be the best that you could wish for. Our lake has a very big head of thirties, plus around 35+ forties and currently 5 different fifties. It currently has an average weight of carp at 33.00 lb. We also do the food package [included in the price] and can arrange an exclusive booking for you. The list below is the current numbers of carp landed this year so far so you can see the proportions of 30+ fish compared to others. There are also a number of big catfish to 110.00 lb to play with. 693 carp landed 35 doubles 65 low twenties 165 upper twenties 347 thirties to 39.15 lb. 76 forties to 49.15 lb 5 different fifties at 51.00 lb, 50.14 lb, 50.08 lb & 52.09 lb [mirrors] & 51.02 lb [common] Hope that helps Keith Moors www.moorlandfisheries.co.uk

Kiran Thanks for the reply, but your lake is not what i'm looking for. I'm after an established lake that has a good reputation. Maybe in a couple of years time, but not for me at the moment. Cheers Matt Hi Matt In fairness, with the size of the lake and from past experiences you could be much better to fish with some other anglers so that more of the lake is covered and the fish have less room to hide. If you were to consider that option your costs would immediately drop below the £450.00 target that you have set. If I can help further drop me an email. I can promise you won't be dissapointed. mrs_rusheslake
One piece of advice I will give is not to take too long making a decision. April is an extremely popular month and many will already have limited availability.
