Just of the M42 which is in-between the M6 and M40 is Barston, nearer the M40 you have Dog Lane or Bishop Bowl, in the same area is Stockton reservoir and Napton reservoir, Napton is a real hard venue with plenty of fish. I might give it a go myself this year. -
CarefulCarping would be the man to ask about Kingsbury, but he has not posted in a while, he has loads of videos on you tube on how to fish Kingsbury. There are loads of pegs on pine pool that hold fish, plus there are a fair few blood worm patches from a number of different pegs.

Sixty quid for a days fishing? They advertise 36 hours, but that extra 12 hours would other wise be an empty swim anyway, they could never do a 24 hour turn-over as anglers would be bumping into each other on the turn around, I’d be taking the net and mat they supply home for that money. I'd go Linears mate, half the price and no silly bait bans.

I think you will struggle to find over-night fishing for 150, I could get a year ticket at Kingsbury for that price, but that is no night fishing. I have never seen a advertised syndicate that lets dogs in, Hams hall is one I like but no dogs rule again. Coombe Abbey do a year ticket with over-night fishing for around 50 quid a year, no dogs, well not when fishing it's fine to take dogs any other time though.

Wow, what a reply, I wish I could get info like that on my local waters, you are doing well just to get the average depth off the anglers in the Coventry area.

Typical, didn't bother tying any super nova up, had every confidence in the snake bite, one rod sat with-out a touch all day, so I tied up a super nova rig put a pop up and bottom boillie on, and chucked it out about six foot to a reed bank and had my best fish of the day out by 7 PM.

Snag leaders tied loop at one end and a quick swivel at the other

There is a nifty little chod set up on the Linear DVD, they use the beads that are wide enough for lead-core, but they pierce a hole straight through the side of the rubber bead and use normal main line, right through to the lead.

good carp lakes to visit with a camper van
Carpbell replied to dobby17's topic in UK Venues and Where to Fish
When I went up last year, the coarse pool was packed the stock levels are on the high side of well stocked, he has two or three paddle airators on each pool, the specimen pool I found to be a real gem, not many fish out, but it was baking hot, no one was catching, apart from me. I had either a sturgeon or catfish on through the night, never had a take like that before, needles to say, it done me over. Had a lovely ghost carp out on a real hot afternoon. I like Dog lane because Eddie lets dogs on site. I made a rod for my own back taking the dog up to Kingsbury, now when he sees me getting ready to go out fishing, he is packed and waiting by the door. -

Mind you, one could get pedantic towards most bivvys on the market, a bivvy is meant to have one or no poles, no ground sheet and no guide lines, most bivvys are tents. -

I must of been doing something right at dog lane last year, the regulars were having a half moan about the tent, the Gaffer never saw it, cus I'm that good, lol. -

Although there are plenty of site for camping and fishing, cheek that you can use the van next to the pool, most sites in the UK wont allow vans or tents around the pool as the insurance is too much , they get away with it by allowing bivvies. Dog lane is one, he has a separate camp site for tents, vans and caravans, if you want to stop next to the pool it has to be a bivvy. I get away with a one man tent from ASDA, it fits under my umbrella, I will get a bivvy soon, save any moaning, Argos do one for 40 quid -
That's the SB rigs, I'll do some Super Nova next.

A couple of snake bite hook lengths, I'll gather a bit of coating back and add putty just before I use them, I'll tie two shorter ones too in a bit
-
Yeah but, the swivel is placed a good distance from the hook on the stiff rig, the swivel on the 360 come into contact with the fish? By the looks of the rig. Luckily Carp are not known for deep hooking.
-
I'm no rig mechanic the most technical rig I use is a snake bite combi, but there are other rigs that give a 360 turn, there is a hinged stiff rig made from two pieces of fluro and a swivel at the join, the bit I don't like about this 360 rig is the swivel on the hook? Just looks like too much metal and aggressive?

It's not meant to prove anything, just me shooting the breeze, go and get some breakfast down you and slow down a bit.

Seems as barbed hook removal has been brought up, I have to relate this funny little story about barbed hook removal. Many years ago I was fishing the local canal, I was using big hooks for a canal, size 12 and 14 barbless, after a few other lads seen the bream and tench I was catching they started to fish the same as me, I told one lad to use a barbless as a barbed hook done to much damage to the bait. So I’m out one day on the canal the same lad is fishing a couple of pegs down with his brother, all I herd was a scream, looked round the younger brother's nose was spurting blood, as his brother had cast out, the hook had gone up the other lads nose and snapped off, he had a trail of line and a few dust shot hanging down, anyway it was a hospital job and the nurse had to push the hook right through and cut the barbed point off, lol, she gave him a telling off for using barbed hooks, sounds like her hubby or some one was into fishing as she knew what she was talking about. The lad now has a scar that looks like some one put the tip of a knife into his nose hole and pulled it forward.... Savage.

I see you can buy ready tied 360 rigs off the net, I’ll bet that's were most anglers are getting these rigs from. I have no problems with ready tied, but there probably is a reason why the big tackle companies only sell basic ready tied rigs. The ESP sink link rigs are great when you are starting out and money is a bit tight after buying rods and reels. My only critic of the ESP rigs is they need a bit of shrink tube or a aligner on the eye of the hook.
-
No offence intended fellas, it's not like I take any opening to list what I don't like in fishing, my thoughts on surface fishing I keep to myself and I fish waters that have banned surface fishing, apart from Kingsbury. As I said on page 1, I have never used this rig.

No I would put a finger in both of their eyes, and claim self defence, as a human I would know not to pull, as to do so would increase the pain. a bit off topic sure, but it wasn't me who compared anglers to the head cases in AR groups.

One last link with scientific research in our favour. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2261424/Anglers-finally-hook-scientists-settle-age-old-debate-fish-feel-pain.html

If you think they don't have fishing in there sights, you are wrong and they are well prepared, not just in terms of physical pain inflected on the fish, but also the long term psychological damage done to the fish, and here's the real kick in the face, the affects it has on a young human that is taught to inflict pain on a animal in return for gaining personal pleasure, charming ain't they.

Here s one for yous, and it will see angling banned at some point, it's the same argument they put forward to bring an end to dolphins and whales in public zoos. When a water born animal is taken out the water gravity comes into play and great pressure is put on the animals organs, due to them living in neutral gravity environment. It's the same for fish as it is whales and the like. has anyone got a reply to that?
